Twas the night before Yule and all through the house,

The pagans were dancing and worshipping the mouse,

The idols were hanging all over with care,

the sun god,the rain god and even a mare,

The children sequestered, from what they might see,

fornication and lust and worship of trees,

mama was naked, she said with a clap,

she was now sitting on another mans lap,

do not be mad,she said with such glee,

thats when I noticed others looking at me,

we all came together in ritual and lust,

the morality of others, avoid it,we must,

its only ritual and no one gets hurt,

across the room I dashed removing my shirt,

Thats when we heard from above such a BOOM,

The earth was quaking and shaking the room,

The windows blew out and the door flew off,

everyone was trembleing, too shaken to scoff,

In walked Lord Jesus, majestic in white,

they all sat there shaking in his godly light,

He spoke to them softly,as only he can,

Why do you say,"Im only a man",

I gave you my words and miracles to see,

and here you have orgies and worship a tree,

You degrade me and mine and squander your worth,

and you even question the day of my birth,

Ive given my blood and even my life,

and you disrespect me by turning your wife,

I oft regret that I gave you freewill,

But its you that you hurt when you steal ,lie and kill,

you worship my creatures as though they were gods,

never stopping to think I made them with nods,

My power is great but Ill leave you your house,

To cower in the corner and worship your mouse,

And Ill leave you your will,as I turn away,

Ill see you all soon,on judgement day,

I looked at my wife, her face was agast,

this yuletide trist was surely her last,

we put on our cloths and walked to the door,

our pagan friends still amazed on the floor,

I turned and said with a glance,

The REAL Lord has spoken and given us a chance,

After we left and were clear out of sight,

I heard my friends say.........

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

WoW, where have all these parties been!? They didn't tell me in the Pagan initiating rites that these would go on LOL. What were you doing there anyway? If you don't carry your Pagan card and present it on demand they would have thrown you out anyway. And PLEASE keep your clothes on!

Tell ya what, When Jesus materializes and beats down my door I will fall down prostrate and worship him, of course he will have to perform a miracle quick before I shoot him as an intruder.

Geez, I've had Christmas trees for years and never thought about having an orgy. I don't think I'll be having those thoughts this year either. And altho I think trees are magnificent creations, I don't worship them.

I do understand the point you're trying to make WC, but have you never put up a Christmas tree? However, I think a better illustration here on how we've gotten away from the meaning of Christmas, would be to mention the stampedes on Black Friday; folks out of control to the point of killing people in an effort to be the first to get the new iPod or X-box to give their little brats for Christmas. Puts it into a little better perspective than the orgy viewpoint.

Oh, and BTW---to my Heathen friend. Thanks for knowing the difference between the words "prostrate" and "prostate". You can't believe how many times I've heard people talking about falling "prostate" on the floor!

I guess that depends on how a guy would land. =)

On that same subject, I won't say anything about the change of life jading your comments if you leave the enlarged prostates in a pissing contest alone. LOL

I do put up a tree. Pagans worship nature, that was my point about the tree, not a christmas tree, but I understand why you took it that way.

Yeah WC, I assume you meant Christmas tree. Perhaps we should ask Stephen whether he actually "worships" nature or just has a deep respect for it. However, I must lean toward the reality that our putting up the Christmas tree is actually quite Pagan. It actually doesn't have a darned thing to do with the birth of Christ anymore than the Easter Bunny and colored eggs and candy has anything to do with His death and resurrection. Bits and pieces of our so-called Christian rituals and holidays are steeped in Paganism whether we want to think that or not. Just a fact.

I know that as well rabid but I will admit that I take offense when people like heathen try to diminish christians at every opportunity and especially this time of year. I dont believe they do it out of a desire to educate or even present thier side.jp openly admits he does it to pick fights-so fights he gets!I like you rabid and think you are a smart man with very good intentions but I also think that you,in effort to get along allow heathen to stomp on your beleiefs a little too much. Obviously I wont-the purpose of this poem was to point out the flaws and rediculous aspects of pagan tradition-fair is fair-right?

Well w-c your statement above shows that you don't know very much about me and even less about Rabid.

First let me somewhat clarify that I don't worship trees, rocks, troll dolls, or any person (living or dead) and yes I do have a deep respect for nature.

Secondly, it looks like you haven't done much homework about the Pagan religious realm either. Lots of different groups under the Pagan umbrella, Just like all of the other religions. Difference is is that I have studied most all religions.

Thirdly, you just don't get it, do you? Most of my posts and comments are tongue-in-cheek and I do some trolling here from time to time. Rabid gets it, so does jp, WingMan, and some others. Funny thing is you are always one of the first to bite. Honestly, I come to this blog mainly for the entertainment factor, I'm sure that I'm entertaining to some (intended or not), and a lot of people here entertain me as well. This is a place that I come when I have some down time. If someone is going to be super-serious about something here then I suggest that they get involved and active with it (outside of the blog world). And yes I'm human too and people sometimes push my buttons, as I push theirs.

Fourthly (does anyone really make it to fourthly?) since we are dragging wives into this, she read your post and she was the first to say that you just don't get it (me). As far as your viewpoint on me being anti-Christian and hating them let me point out that my lovely bride is Christian and reads her Bible and prays regularly and that all of the combined families are Christian, to some degree or another. So I hate Christians, riiiiiight. I have adopted the same "logic" that Christians have regarding people and sin, you know, "love the sinner - hate the sin", as "love the Christian - hate the Christianity" for what that religion (or any of the revealed religions) has done and is still doing to mankind.

Fifthly, (I'll stop the roll on this one) you can keep the condescending card in the pack from now on with me. You didn't pull it out with jp and reasonedwrong , so don't pull it out with me, and I accused you taking things personally, now why would I think that? I have a differing viewpoint and make assertions about it and then you call me condescending, it works both ways. BTW - since reasonedwrong threatened to censor me on his blog let me state that I have found a plethora (found that in the book of big words) of Th.D.'s and Ph.D.'s that can be bought on-line. I wonder how much his is costing him? His words of the month "red herring", I'll stay tuned in for next month's word or phrase.

WC, first point, please know that I do not allow Heathen to stomp on my beliefs. I happen to get along with people who have other beliefs and don't try and cram mine down other people's throats. They will either come around or they won't. I no longer try to "win" the battle. Sometimes it just isn't worth it.

Second point, also know that at one point in my life I probably wouldn't have given people like Heathen the time of day because I was awash in my new so-called 'Christianity'. That was years and years ago, but I certainly wasn't acting like a Christian then. I imagine that some would think me unChristian now because they would believe I have become tolerant of people with other viewpoints or so-called "lifestyles". I would prefer to think I was acting as or reaching out as a friend when friendship was needed.

Third point is that I respect Heathen's beliefs and he actually respects mine. He's a good guy and smart as well.

Fourth point is that I am NOT a smart man at all. I AM a pretty smart woman on occasion, and yes, I have good intentions, but you know what they say about that!

WC- I like you too and enjoy your posts. However, there are a lot of bloggers here who are good at pushing each other's buttons (and mine have been pushed on occasion too!) but let's remember that we all have differing opinions and beliefs and 99% of the time we are not going to change anybody's mind! Have a great day WC!

I dont think I will change minds,I will just always assert my opinion.I guess my issue,or even fault,is that I look at the FAITH blogs as different from the others.I dont care what a persons faith is,we can have muslims or whatever down here, but when heathen and jp come down to just ridicule I think it speaks to thier insecurity and pettyness. I Understand that Im speaking of MY OWN unwritten code of ethics and cant expect others to operate with respect regarding it.

Heathen: First you mistake reasoned intellect with condescention. You made it clear you didnt like his "big words" and you still feel the need to bring that up,it obviously bothers you.Jp doesnt write "blog rules" and try to act like hes somthing hes not-you do.You love to dish but you cannot recieve very well.Jp is who he is-no excuses.(most of the time)
Second: You guys are attacking Chrstian traditions so I attacked pagan traditions.I have no idea what your beliefs are but none of my assertions about paganism were wrong.Did I list the bleliefs of every sect? No-it was a poem for God sake.Do I believe in live and let live? YES!We arent sharing a beer over small talk here,we are expressing our beliefs.

Im not shoving my beliefs on anyone,Im simply DEFENDING them when they are attacked.Did the christians start these blogs of late attacking pagans or budhist? NO! And now Im accused of such? Whatever!I admit that I must look at things different than most on here. I used to never go to the news blogs because to me it was for news. The politcal blog was for the more vigorous debate.I freely admit that this was MY perception and Im probably wrong. With my perception in mind,I wouldnt come down in the faith blogs and berate a muslim over his beliefs because I feel its sorta like attacking him in his church. My problems with Islam are better expressed in the political section because it is not a "sacred" blog and much its problems are based in the bastardization of the religion for political purposes.I know Im "old school" and my values and "code" are dying-there isnt much respect anywhere anymore. If you knew me on a personal level and not just my views through a computer monitor you would see that Ive lived a full life, was very liberal in my younger years, that theres not much I havent done and I dont make judgments out of ignorance or self rightousness.Ill bet ya two to one that I have lived a far more colorful life than most people on this blog and probably most in this city.(I grew up aroung bad people in the worst part of St loius County)I know what it is to sin,I dont place myself above anyone or have delusions that I am "clean".
