This is what I think about the pot reformers and their request for their past time enjoyment.

First of all I think the government should Identify each of you users by issuing a government ID card to give you permission to purchase a limited amount of your favorite drug.  They should also include your fingerprint ID (high-tech biometrics) like the system used for the people entering the country.

Then I think each of you should be made to drive down to the border and step up to the Mexican border cash register to make your purchase.  (many are dying and being placed in jail to get you your commodity of choice)  I think you should go down there and put your but-s in the sling of danger to get your product, instead of thinking people should deliver it to your door like a pizza from pizza hut.

The cash register could be regulated by the military,  you pay the going rate and if your caught trying to buy more than your share then your placed in jail or shot.  But I know most of you "whinners" will be too chicken to do such a thing, right?

Where is your ba-ls?  Yeah, that's what I thought.

That would trim the corruption in business and politics, the best "war on drugs" that I can think of, because every user would be properly identified be him politician, businessman, family man, or otherwise.

Then the rest of us that decide we don't want to deal with all the corruption and violence have our rights respected to a free country.  Neighborhoods would be safer and the drug dealers would get their pay without suffering drug conviction for you reformers.

Oh by the way no open containers or violators will be punished.  No driving under the influence or violators will be punished, so wait til you get home.  Now if the Mexicans would get smart they would stop losing lives, make money on a commodity, and wouldn't have to suffer illegal entry violations.  The MExicans should tell the reformers and users "if you want it come down here and get it".  The Mexicans and other countries have the greatest "bargaining leverage" tool, they just don't know it.  They could ask whatever price without consequeces.   A "win-win" situation for all parties involved.

Hint: A boycott on the delivery of "pizza's" has to occur in order to start bargaining power.

Yeah, I knew it would pi-s a lot of you off, the truth is the truth.

Ha ha ha, gives new meaning to the "Superhighway", huh?

Think of all the hitch hikers......what a herd.

What a twist on the drug smuggling trade.

Is it my imagination or do most of the "pot reformers" at least on this blog seem to "white"?

It so quiet in here I could hear a pin drop.

LOL, if it were put to a national vote. Marijuna would be legalized the folowing day.
Here I'll step up to the plate though.
By your post you seem to think pot is our countries worst drug problem.
What about all the other drugs? What shall become of them?
Not to mention you do realize the worst abused drug in America is not pot or any illegal drug.
It is your friend, alcohol.

Let me dig up a few stats fer ya.

In 2006, 13,470 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one-third (32%) of all traffic-related deaths in the United States.
Drugs other than alcohol (e.g., marijuana and cocaine) are involved in about 18% of motor vehicle driver deaths.
Half of the 306 child passengers ages 14 and younger who died in alcohol-related crashes in 2006 were riding with drivers who had a BAC level of .08 or higher.
In 2006, 45 children age 14 years and younger who were killed as pedestrians or bicyclists were hit by alcohol-impaired drivers

Percent of adults who drank alcohol in the past year: 61
Percent of current drinkers who had five or more drinks on at least one day in the past year: 33

During 2002–2004, there were, on average each year, more
than 230,000 alcohol-related ED visits among underage
adolescents 14–20 years of age

Hispanic students are more likely than white and black students to engage in these health risk behaviors

Health Behaviors
(%) Hispanic Students
(%) White Students
(%) Black Students
Lifetime cocaine use (Used any form of cocaine, including, powder, crack, or freebase one or more times during their life.)
10.9 7.4 1.8
Current cocaine use (Used any form of cocaine one or more times during the 30 days before the survey.) 5.3 3.0 1.1
Lifetime ecstasy use (Used ecstasy [also called MDMA] one or more times during their life.) 7.4 5.6 3.7
Lifetime illegal injection-drug use (Used a needle to inject any drug into their body one or more times during their life.) 3.1 1.5 1.8
Lifetime illegal heroin use (Used heroin [also called smack, junk, or China white] one or more times during their life.) 3.7 1.7 1.8
Offered, sold, or given an illegal drug by someone on school property (During the 12 months before the survey.) 29.1 20.8 19.2
Drank alcohol on school property (At least one drink of alcohol on at least 1 day during the 30 days before the survey.) 7.5 3.2 3.4

Hispanic students are more likely than white students to engage in these health risk behaviors
Health Behaviors
(%) Hispanic Students
(%) White Students
(%) Black Students
Drank alcohol for the first time before age 13 years (Other than a few sips.) 29.0 21.5 26.7
Tried marijuana for the first time before age 13 years 9.8 7.2 9.5

So according to the CDC, the hard drug use among blacks is much lower than hispanic or white. Yet all three seem pretty happy to smoke a little weed & sell

Legal Drugs Now Lethal Drugs, Says Florida
Figures in the report show that of 168,900 deaths statewide, 989 were caused by illegal drugs like heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamines. At the same time, legal opioids like Oxycontin and Vicodin were linked to 2,328. As a comparison, deaths from heroin rose 14% for a total of 110, while deaths from oxycodone shot up 36% to 1,253
Florida tracks drug-related deaths much more closely than other states, making comparisons among states difficult. Florida’s findings, however, are similar to those of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, which puts the number of Americans who abuse legal prescription drugs at about seven million and represents an 80 percent increase in six years

In summary, over the 20 year period 1979-1998, slightly more than one-tenth of one percent of all deaths in the US were due to the use of illegal drugs. During that time, a total of 214,575 deaths were called drug-induced -- but only 21 percent of these were due to the use of "illegal" drugs.
Of the 44,727 deaths attributed to illegal drug use, 22,735 were caused by accidental heroin overdose [ICD-9 code 850.0], while another 15,551 died from accidental cocaine overdose [ICD-9 code 855.2]. That is a total of 38,286 (or 86 percent) of all deaths due to illegal drugs. One has to wonder how greatly this number of accidental deaths could be reduced if the people using the drugs had products of known quality and dosage to work with.

The United States government is currently spending over $20 billion per year to "fight the scourge of illegal drugs," and arresting over 700,000 per year for smoking marijuana. Why? Clearly, it has nothing to do with death.

To help put the lack of magnitude concerning drug deaths in perspective, consider that during the same 20 year timeframe:
30,150 people died from choking on food
37,246 people died from choking on things other than food
38,328 people committed suicide via inhaling car exhaust
80,959 people committed suicide via hanging themselves, and
87,152 people died from drowning (6,681 of whom drowned in bathtubs)
378,960 died from alcohol induced causes

OK I'm done.

Screw that idea. I like when Pizza Hut delivers it to my door.
How do you think all those delivery drivers really make their money?

I think not.

"commodity of choice" I think that covered the subject, good at stats but not at reading.

Now that has me wondering, which would be worse?
To be called a jew or an arab?

The stats easily show what your wanting to say is the "cause" of the problem, really is not the problem.

Just think of all the money & life that would be saved by making alcohol illegal.

Ah heck lets face it, were all going to be "suffering" much worse in the years ahead.
Drugs, alcohol, obesity will be the least of our problems.

Shoo Mister, your one of the few on these blogs I agree with 99.8% of the time.
Really I enjoy reading other's views on all sorts of subjects.

No winner's or loser's here, just people presenting their side. Cause really this is just the internet.

Looking for the pot of Gold! For those who have requested some type of "bio". Well here it goes, I chose this picture because it is my favorite cartoon characters. I can relate to the cat, the way he sneakly holds the prized possession of gold to offer Tweety. That cat is always up to something, and Tweety always escapes. I find that many people, and groups of people work in the same manner. So for the cat looking for a "bio", here it is. "Ask me, I'll decide if I want to tell you".
