I don't vote, never have, but know what's going on.  The election to me is largely a sporting event, and up till now, hard to predict a winner. But:

John McCain is toast.

Down 7 points in the polls, and it's late.

Giving up on Michigan--quite a few electoral votes there!

Not doing well at all in the swing states.

He's too old and his VP is too young.

This bailout has hurt him, mostly with his wishy-washy I'll suspend my campaign and won't debate untill it's cleared up mentality.   Well, the House hasn't passed anything yet but probably will.

Obama in the eyes of America is probably the lesser of two evils.....but won't be able to produce on very many of his campaign tv commercials.

If only the next candidate 4 years from now would save them and re-run them to really show the American people how little one person can do to change anything.

President Bush has done well on my taxes.

Obama......show me the money!

MP-- I have read a lot of your posts. It wouldn't matter what McCain/Palin says or does, you will still support Obama.

For information This is a direct quote:

I share your concerns, mp. McCain's standing in the polls isn't any too cheery. I didn't think too much of Reagan when he was running, his numbers were pretty dismal too. I had lived in the state when he was governor. I was a kid, and only knew what Walter Cronkite told us. He proved me wrong, Thank God, and I became his biggest fan.

Voting is a democratic right (and duty in my opinion). It doesn’t matter who you vote. Choose the person which reflects best your ideas and opinions. In history too many people died just to be able to vote. Never take it for granted. You have a voice and let it be heard!!

Just the opposite, it's the voters that got us in this mess by voting for the people currently in office screwing up the whole works.

Non voters are the majority of Americans by the way. We seem to have the most sense by not approving either Obama or McCain with our vote. Or voting in the House of Representatives, which will be giving away tax money so far removed from the "bailout" topic.

For example, today, the geniuses voted in the House of Reps will vote on the bailout. The bailout consists of: a $10 million break for Hollywood television and film producers, $100 million for NASCAR tracks, a $6million break for the beleaguered wooden arrow industry over 10 years, and $220 million for the Exxon Valdez affected fishermen.

My candidate would abstain. However, there is no candidate with a campaign platform available to vote for.

Per a previous blog, the question is posed, "are voters stupid?"

Beyond stupid, if there is such a thing. Go ahead voters, put your name on these things, and approve them. I doubt if a single congressman or voter has read the whole package. It is several inches thick.

I don't play football but don't need to to have an opinion on our Chiefs. The election is basically the same thing, a sporting event.
I'm not paying admission to either.

BARR / ROOT

On the ballot in 49 states.

But we only want to vote for the winner, right?

yep. Keep voting for the same stupid BS people, that's what you're going to get.

Dems and repubs are BOTH responsible for the piss poor state of this nation, but the ultimate responsiblity lies with US for PUTTING THEM THERE and falling asleep while they fleeced us.

Of course, most people are guilty of voting along party lines... you vote for the Republican or Democrat, because you vote for the party.

That is an issue. It is our right, and our duty to vote people in and out of office. IF they fail to do what is right (in your opinion) when it comes time too... you vote for someone else, and get the incumbant out...

But alas... most folks just keep voting for the same people over and over again.

You do realize we are 4 weeks out and that is still an eternity. I am beginning to see the end for McCain because he refuses to hit Obama where it hurts.

But go back to 1976 and the fact that Carter was leading by over 30 points going into the final month and he won by a slim couple of points.

Bush I was down by over 20 going into the last month against Clinton and Clinton squeaked out a 1 or 2 point victory.

Polls a month out mean nothing really. If McCain is down this much with a week to 10 days to go then fire up the toaster.
