As we all know Christmas is just around the corner. We will each celebrate it in our own way and hopefully it will bring joy to all of us, even the people who do not always agree with us as well as those who do. This Christmas I was blessed with an early gift. My second great grandson. I am very lucky to have an extremly large family that is loving and close all year around. If I get nothing else I will have been given the greatest gift of all. I will have seen my children grow into adults and have families of their own as well as my grandchildren doing the same.

These are my blessings over the last two Chrismases. With all that is going on in the world today there does not seem to be alot to be thankful for but I look at the faces of my great grandsons and I see the hope of a new generation and the history of my family. I know it is strange but there is a history in those two tiny faces.

My parents were children of share croppers, my father was a traveling boxer, and my mom eventually a single mother with a 5th grade education. She got her GED and went on to support 4 of us until she remarried. Now we have children who own farms, businesses and homes and have college educations. In these two boys I see how we came from nothing to where we are and they one day will be looking into the faces of a new generation and leaving a bit of history with them.

I have compiled a family tree going back to the 1700's to pass down to our newest generation that gives them an idea of where they came from and where they can end up. I want them to see the blessings they are and have as they look into their own grandchildrens faces.

So when all looks as if there is little to be thankful for look into the faces of the new generation and think of where they came from and what they can do. Life is what we make of it and what we leave behind. I am leaving hardworking, proud and loving children with a history to look back on. I raised them to be honest and to give as well as take. I am proud of my family and my newest additions.

Nite all and Merry Christmas, God bless.

When my oldest was my only child, he would be so kind and loving to little babies at his school... I knew he would be a good brother. Sure enough, he was 4 when his brother was born, and he was great with him! It was a lot of fun watching him when my sister brought him up to the hospital to see his new little brother... They have a very special relationship and still play together to this day! My oldest is now 16, the "baby" is 12...

That often happens, mine are 2 to 3 years apart and they all still get along and they are all about 30 to 40 in age.

That is great! And yes aren't they just the best blessing anyone could ever have. I know with the news of another one on the way (my daughter is pregnant again) and yet with another boy I was over come with joy! I can so relate with your happiness you must feel! Once again congrats!! He is so precious!
And yes Rosco you get tired of them you send them home I have not had that experience with that feeling yet lol, I beg to have him all weekend but I have to share with the other grandma (ugh) I get so jealous LOL!!! But I enjoy the time I do get with him. I only wished I had been blessed with more than one child but I'll take the blessing however they come. Oh for christmas I did get my grandson a shirt that says "I am Grandma's payback"

I guess you can say that grandchildren and great-grandchildren are what makes the world go round. You can play with 'em, spoil 'em then give them to the ones who gave you heck growing up and smile with satisfaction.

I am a reformed democrat now republican and mother of 5, have 10 grandchildren and 2 greatgrand child. I have lived all over the US and love to sit on docks and fish. Waiting for the big one. I love my family and a good joke, reading and painting. My siblings all think I need to be taken care of as do my children and I'm the oldest so don't know why. I watch Fox 4 News because you are about the fairest all around on T.V.
