To Bailout Or Not To Bailout

I've been watching and listening to the bailout debates. I find it ironic that the Big 3 are more important than the small businesses. When you think about it with an open mind, there are millions of people losing or going to lose their jobs that work for small businesses. Yet these companies are not valued like the Big 3, IGA, Banks, and good old Fannie and Freddie. Because these companies hire a large group all at one time they are more valued.

Now if you think of it on another level, there are 1.5 million people who lost their jobs this last month and most of them worked for smaller companies that cut back or closed because of the economy.  How is it that the 1.5 million or the 3 million or any one persons job is any less valued than the ones bailed out or going to be bailed out? Who is the person or persons that make that choice? If you are the person who just lost your job you are not going to be happy hearing how these companies getting fed help so others can keep their jobs as more valued than the job you had.

We have a government making bailouts with money that we will have to pay back and they are picking the companies they want to help. Well, I for one, feel that it is not fair unless they are willing to help out every company that needs help to keep every job for every person that is losing theirs or going to. I see no company that is more valued than another. No income more needed than another. No paycheck that is not needed more than another. I see 1.5 million as just as valued as the thousands of workers at the Big 3.

So who amoung us feels that any job is more important that another, or any company more valued than the one you work at or worked at? Who feels their paycheck is less valued than another? And who wants to keep watching congress bailout the companies with the most votes as veruses the ones with very few? I think that is what they are doing. Buying votes for the next election by bailing out the companies that will give them the most votes, that and the Unions.

Yes, I agree with the anology and premise, but the facts are; "The Ripple Effect"

While 1.5 million may have lost their jobs at smaller companies last month, that number could swell to 2.5 or 3.5 a month if the auto companies were to close! Ah ha, there's the catch, they will never close, but they may reorganize as a much smaller and efficient company, and that may require some financial assistance.
Scare tactics by the Big 3 and the Unions are based on a total closure, which will never happen.

I agree gimini,I also hear what Dog is saying but everyday I grow more and more anti bailout of ANYONE!

Why do we have bankruptsy laws? Let them restruture under chapter11 and renegotiate the union contracts or do away with the union as a whole.We need to keep puching that point.Corporate jets,executive compensationetc areall drops in the bucket compared to thier labor cost! The media picked right up on the "jet" controversy but they arent being realistic about the MAIN CAUSE!The UAW is nervous,we havent heard much out ofthem lately but I remember yelling atmy TV less than a yearago when the UAW was threatening strike AGAIN here in KC and these relentless bastards were averaging $100,000 a year to screw parts on cars in a state of the art/semi automated facility!GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.They kinda piss me off! LOL

I just feel that if you bail out anyone then you should bailout everyone. It is not fair to pick and choose who will be saved and who will not when every job is of equal importance to each person. As for trickle down effect, if the Big 3 are losing money and not earning they will still be losing and not earning after the loan and eventually they will have to sink or swim. So how much debt does this country have to carry before we say enough is enough?

If the employees of the Big 3 lose their jobs, they won't have any money to support the smaller businesses, so they'll go under anyway.

Now if no one rushes out and buys a house you might get AIG to feel the crunch. BasehorLady is right, it takes money to make money, and it circulates. So less revenue and taxes from cars sells and the employees that work there and the businesses they support, looks like Obama will have a "welfare" nation. Why did AIG get bail, make them take a $1 a year for pay. This nation is going in the crapper quick. I was looking at unemployement rates, proverty rates by countries and continents last night. Well no need to feel sorry for that 98.9% of Mexicans that want a better life, their numbers look better than the U.S.. I plan on publishing them later. A Mexican has a better chance of being employed in his country than in the U.S. or a U.S. citizen in the U.S..

Under chapter11,no one has to lose thier job. it just gives the company breathing room from thier debt to restructure. the unions are the biggest cause of this mess! Why are auto companies that dont have to deal with the UAW still profitable? Why are the big3 profitable in other countries where they dont have unions or CAFE standards? Basehorlady and the union folk need to wake up before they actually do lose thier jobs. Auto workers in tennesee make $35/hr less than UAW,if unions would take pay cuts and benefits cuts they could still earn $42/hr and have decent benefits! I dont feel sorry for people that will watch thier companies fail but wont do ANYTHING to help the situation. All we talk about is "corporate greed" arent these union employees greedy by dmanding 115% of the average manufacturing wage?

The small businesses are closing despite the Big 3, so that is a whole lot of B.S. that is not proving to be the rule. As for AIG and housing, with a halt on forclosures AIG is on hold but once it is lifted all those 1.5 millions will still not make their payments as they are jobless so they will still lose their homes. So will the 1.5 million from the month before. So when you look at a few thousand compared to 3 million I find it ironic that anyone can say that those thousand are more valued than the 3 million. In the last 2 months 3 million people lost their jobs. They will and are effecting our economy. What is a few more added to the list? That is B.S. that they will make or break us. Take a good look around, we are broke. The U.S. is 10 trillion in debt with congress wanting to add 1.3 trillion more. So far not one of their bailouts have done squat to keep this from happening. I do not see where more money will help. They already loaned them 25 billion. I see no progress from that loan.

Dear all,
IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER.
You can throw all the money you want at the situation and it will not help. You can bail-out the corporations or give it to the individual; it won't help... it just doesn't matter.
America; Gov't, Corp or individuals are up to their ears in debt. Until that debt is lowered, not raised, the problem can not even begin to reverse itself.
Banks and mortgage companies have sufficient funds to lend... TO PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE ABILITY TO REPAY!!!
Have you looked at mortgage terms lately? They want 10-20% down; Got Money? Then you can borrow. Who's going to lend to someone that has NO equity in their home, owes $12,000 on credit cards, has two auto loans and makes $50,000 a year?
When was the last time you got a pre-approved credit card in your mail? When was the last time you received a pre-approved mortgage re-finance offer. Where are the "Interest Only" mortgages or the "125%" mortgages?
We (America) are Upside Down. Until some things get paid off, IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER:-(

As another blogger has repeatedly said, You can't borrow your way out of debt.
But we sure like to try:-(

i'll just stand here with my hand out... think i'll get bailed out? I need a car too, think i can get bailed out? govt doesn't give a rat's BLEEP about the little guy.

There is no way the government is going to bail out anyone that does not have a few thousand votes to re-elect them and a Union pushing for them.

I am a reformed democrat now republican and mother of 5, have 10 grandchildren and 2 greatgrand child. I have lived all over the US and love to sit on docks and fish. Waiting for the big one. I love my family and a good joke, reading and painting. My siblings all think I need to be taken care of as do my children and I'm the oldest so don't know why. I watch Fox 4 News because you are about the fairest all around on T.V.
