18 Month Old Baby in Stolen SUV

I was glad to see the 18 month old baby left safe and sound in the stolen SUV today. Grateful the carjacker did not harm him. I do have 1 question though. Why on earth would a parent leave an infant in a car period? Let alone with the keys and the vehicle running? If there is more to the story, I have not seen it on the news anywhere. In Wisconsin, where I am from originally, if an infant/child is left alone in a vehicle with or without keys, the parent would be charged with child endangerment....

They are Snottsdale yuppies. Her car is the BMW SUV, her hubby picked her up in the Mercedes.

dhw - I found myself wondering the same thing off and on all day. Would the mother have been charged if she lived in another less desirable part of town? Rather than snottsdale or cave creek? I find it a little hard to believe that the question why did you leave your baby alone in a car? Never come up!! Yet, low income,single mothers are being arrested regularly for leaving their children in harmful situations, it's on the news almost weekly.

Remember the mother a year or so ago who left her baby in the car and expected the valet to watch the kid while she went shopping? Snottsdale again!

DMG--I think we all acknowledge that her vehicle was stolen.....with the keys in it, running, and her baby in it. No way does this excuse the puke who stole it, but had this woman done the responsible thing it may have never happened. And if you are referring to me as a leftist progressive, you have about a five minute attention span.

dmg not by any means is anyone taking the blame off the perpetrator but NO ONE as dhw said, can deny the facts of this case. The Mother left the baby in the car with the keys. Open door invitation to the many car thieves in this city. I certainly do not have to be reminded that the stolen car crime in this city is one of the leading in the nation. I DO NOT leave my car unlocked anywhere-and certainly wouldn't do it with the keys in it. Not to mention a baby to boot!!! What in the world is wrong with people.....

Apostic heroin is the new republican sheek and cash cow.More crime to come is the sad side effect of poverty along with corporate BAIL OUTS.Home invasions and murder soon to rise while jobs move to mexico and other cheap labor spots set up world wide for corporations.We will be building new prisons soon i predict wich will equal more taxxes from the already over taxxed peoples.
Also thank god the kid is ok and hopefully the lady learnD a big lesson.Never leave a child in a car worth more than 10 years work to a minumum wage earner.And worth more than 20 years work to a street corner thug committing the retarded crime in the first place.

dmg-a car can be replaced if stolen and wrecked-the child's life could not be and that is the point of bringing the mother into this. Actually the child is more the victim than the mother. That baby is fortunate nothing more tragic happened.

Now the leftist aka progressives want the law abiding citizens to do more then the criminals.

So what you all are saying is this woman won't be charged with anything? Just let her go and let the baby go with her? When will people learn it only takes 2 seconds for a child to disappear. Ridiculous!

dmg-I really think you need a reality check, we see what you are saying and in the perfect world, would agree with some of what you are saying. BUT, it is what it is now days. We must protect ourselves from the Criminals. We also as adults, are responsible for protecting our children-who are not capable of protecting themselves. We have to live in a defensive way, whether we like it or not. It would be really nice if we could live in your world.
