I am a dog lover!  I have had dogs all my life.  I am the first one to get on my soap box when I have heard of an animal being abused.  I know any dog at any time can bite.  But it just baffles me why anyone would want to have a dog in their home that has a known character to be viscous and dangerous.  To go a step further why would you keep a dog that has attacked before?  Wouldn't that scare you?

I am not ditching on people that own Pit Bulls or Mastiff's (just to give an example of known dogs that have attacked) I just want to understand why.

Here is information I found on the Mastiff.

This ancient breed was primarily used as a guard dog. The Mastiff was favored by nobility as a hunting companion and revered by peasants as a family and livestock protector. They were also used as arena gladiators where they participated in bull, bear, and dog combat. The Mastiff was nearly extinct by the end of WWII, but was saved with imports from the United States and Canada.

Character:  A massive, muscular, and powerful dog, the Mastiff is one of the heaviest of breeds. Males are capable of exceeding 200 pounds. They have an imposing and dominant demeanor. Mastiffs are fearless, alert, and extremely courageous. Often referred to as the Gentle Giant, they are a combination of dignity and grandeur.

Temperament:  The Mastiff is a watchful, reliable, and intelligent breed. They are exceedingly loyal and deeply devoted to their family. This breed thrives on human companionship and affection and does not do well if left alone for extended periods of time. The Mastiff does best in a home with older considerate children. They do not do well with other household pets they have not been raised with. This breed is naturally protective and is extremely possessive of their family and home. The Mastiff is not recommended for the novice, inexperienced, or passive owner.

I have been around someone who raised Mastiffs. They swore up and down their dogs were not aggressive. I had this fear around their Male Mastiff. He had the hair on his back go up around me and I was in fear of being bit. I'm not one who has fear over dogs. I love dogs. But when I have this feeling of being attack by one I respect my feelings. I did not trust this dog at all. This dog was huge. He stood past my waist.

I hope he won't be sorry that he got this dog. It is a beautiful dog, but a BIG s.o.b.

Rose...always trust those feelings. I remember several years ago, we had some friends that had a Great Dane mix. That dog scared the hell outta me.
He would let me pet him, but then he would go lay down and just stare at me. Whew..talk about goose bumps.

There are not bad dogs but bad owners.

Bottom line the dogs owner is liable for all injuries and any pain and suffering that comes up in the Civil Suit, I've said it hundreds of times, If you dont have Home Owners insurance, you shouldnt have a dog, this is why you have Personal liabitly built into a home owners policy, If the Owner himself would have did this type of attack to these people he would go to jail for years and probably get sued for several Hundred Thousands of dollars.

I love Dogs, but this people like this give pets a bad name. I hope he serves time.
