Now, I want to know if gender is really NOT an issue anymore.  When did it get swallowed up?  Is gender really not an issue?  When did we get past having a female VP and possibly female President in 2012?  Did I miss the end of the political and media debates on this?

I don’t believe that women should be called upon or handed the responsibility of leading a Nation or People in dire circumstances.  Leading a private business is okay and great.  Leading the World is not—because I BELIEVE, and stand by it that it’s a man’s responsibility.

I predict that McCain will see a low voter turnout in Alabama.  I know they lose my vote.  Period.

You really do live in the stone age my friend, there have been several women in other countries that have done remarkable jobs as leaders of their nations. You need to go back to that cave and do some more finger paintings.

You are going to use gender as a basis to determine your vote? That sounds so antiquated. Your reasoning is as bad as those that vote in either direction based on color.

Wow! A woman can have and raise a future President, but not be the President? The hand the rocks the cradle, rocks the world.

Just curious. WHY don't you think a woman can do this job? Is it about weakness? Sarah Palin could probably beat up an old geezer like John McCain. Is it about guts? Palin has had the guts to stand up to political bullies, and shoot and kill large wild animals. Are you worried she might not be herself at "that time of the month'? Women don't go crazy during that - Well, on second thought, you might have a point there! ;-)

"That time of the month" could work to our advantage in terms of National Security.
As long as "that time" is kept a secret, and nobody knows which week of the month it is, our enemies will be detered from threatening us, for fear of it being "the wrong time of the month", and Palin going postal and pushing all the red buttons!

Briar, since when has there ever been a debate as to a gender for a public office? That includes the Presidency/Vice President. Rules and Regulations do not state a gender for public office. That also includes Gays and Lesbians and there a lot who hold a public office. I can just imagine how your mother feels about you. I sure she still loves you and that's what counts.

However, your manner of thinking is truely wild. Most people know that this is 2008 and not 1950, which is how most of the peole back then use to think.

I thought I had a problem with the female gender, but not like you do.

One major question? Do you know if you are alive?

I have a question for the powers to be that decide who's blog warrants front page. WHY???
It's obvious this idiot doesn't have the brain power to determine right from wrong in dealing with the fair sex so, why is this tasteless slob allowed to have his (or her) blog plasterd on what is considered the front page of the NEWSROOM BLOGS while other worthwhile important issues are swept to the back pages???

Worldlyone, scooter, ken, sputter, tweety, nofear, is McCain too old? What about Obama; are his religious beliefs okay? Is it okay that he has a minority skin color? We’ve all heard it all. We can’t discriminate in the workplace or housing based on age, race, religion, or sex. However, when we vote they are up for grabs. The Republicans expect women to flock to vote for her, even crossing party lines. It only makes sense that the Republican Party expects some men to refuse to vote for her. I’m one.

These items: age, race, religion, and sex (Hillary) have all been debated to some degree. They lost my vote, and now, suddenly, it’s all normal. Perhaps I didn’t want a woman on the Republican ticket. We all discriminate (not necessarily, age, race, sex, religion, etc.), but based on our likes and dislikes. We do it when voting, or we shouldn’t vote!

Ken, It’s not if she can act like a man or not. It is, I believe, a man should shoulder the responsibility. Show me that there isn’t a man left in America for the job, and I’ll say, “I’ll take it, and you can be President.” And we will die saving the women.. Whee! Huuh!

Briar, it is not the color of skin, race, creed, etc. IT IS THE MAN HIMSELF, BARACK OBAMA THAT I DONOT TRUST.

How do you feel about women being in the service. They have been there from the git go back when George Washington was alive and beyone. Woman have always been in the political scene but only in the rear portion. Since the womans sufferage rights, they now are up front and have a GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO BE WHERE EVER THEY WANT TO BE AND DO AS THEY SEE FIT.

YOU ARE A COMPLETE TOTAL HIPPOCRITE AND ANY OTHER WORD FROM A-Z, ALABAMIAN.

Good point scooter; I don’t trust him either.

Women in combat and services like refueling, supply delivery and some other support roles was a bad move. Administration, medical, and Manufacturing at home etc. has been admirable and I wouldn’t take anything away from that.

Alabaman is the real and correct way to refer to me (a citizen of Alabama), like Arizonan. Alabamian has been forced on us by ignorant people that want to change everything they can touch. Some dictionaries still give this alternate spelling. Just wait; someone will be calling you scooter the Arizonian. Whee Huuh!

I don't have a problem with people calling me names. I have been around for a long time and got a lot longer to go. So go with names.

Brair, you're not in the stone age. That is just the liberals calling you that, but you are mistaken about having a woman on the ticket with McCain. A woman's role in the government is not the same as having a woman usurping authority via the scriptures. In Timothy, Paul was addressing behavior of women in church, and further stating that women are subject to men. He was talking about "within the church."

Judges 4:4 - And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

Taking a role in the government is just different than usurping authority over men within the church. The law (that is, legal law), is supposed to be a schoolmaster though. We have to see it thru a glass darkly, to borrow from (I think) Paul....

I'm an Alabaman born and raised. I despise the use of the word Alabamian to describe such a unique person. I hate litter and litterbugs (especially, those that haul used roofing shingles and old sheetrock in open trailers). I quit smoking 19 months ago using Chantax. I'm Baptist. I like Larry Langford and George Bush. I supported John McCain (until he chose a female running mate that may be President in 2012), the War and the economy. I hate politics when things get ugly, but love rabbit huntin'. Anything I write is my own opinion developed through my life experience and beliefs; don't expect me to bore you with a lot of factual justifications (unless you ask for it)!
