FIRST FRUITS

Proverbs: 3; 9.  Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: 10; So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

First fruits aren’t necessarily the best fruits, but they are the first!  Can we imagine summertime and ourselves and others having fruits or food early, by saying; oh, I now have some pears ready to eat and simply passing the time by preparing them.  Then telling it, or others seeing us having fresh food, although young fruit, others too, all across the countryside, and the church having not to supply its needs?  First fruit, isn’t the full ripe fruit, but let’s be sensitive to thank God when he first begins to bless us.

Let’s say you have a project, situation or turn of events, and in the beginning you think oh, this is good about something in the very early stages of progress.  We should thank God then for all he has helped us with and for allowing us to be successful and give glory to him for the, although minor, first fruits of your situation.  You could discard the first fruits, allow them to grow before recognizing them, or ignore them entirely, but we shouldn’t allow an opportunity to recognize God’s presence to pass unnoticed.  We should always be alert, and mindful of God’s worthiness, and praise Him for it.

God is beginning new blessings in our lives each day.  As we become more sensitive and able to recognizing His work, we should thank him for what he has already done and for what he has begun for us each time we notice.

Romans: 6; 20-22.  For when you were servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.  21;  What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.  22; But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Ask Jesus.  Whee Huuh!

I'm an Alabaman born and raised. I despise the use of the word Alabamian to describe such a unique person. I hate litter and litterbugs (especially, those that haul used roofing shingles and old sheetrock in open trailers). I quit smoking 19 months ago using Chantax. I'm Baptist. I like Larry Langford and George Bush. I supported John McCain (until he chose a female running mate that may be President in 2012), the War and the economy. I hate politics when things get ugly, but love rabbit huntin'. Anything I write is my own opinion developed through my life experience and beliefs; don't expect me to bore you with a lot of factual justifications (unless you ask for it)!
