How long does it take to grow up?  I’d say it depends on what you are and what you hope to be..  Ifin’ you’re a dog it generally takes a little over a year and a half, but by two you are surely grown..   A dog’s hope is instinct; he aspires to be only a dog.  With great instincts he has no choice except to be driven to become the great dog his instincts dictate.   A horse isn’t grown until maybe three and breeding plays a role, but horses have their limitations too..   A human boy how long to grow?  A girl, how long?

With people—they grow in instincts, in intangibles and in other spiritual ways..   Physically, if you stop growing you are dead and everything you were goin’ to do won’t be done by you.  It’s the same way emotionally and spiritually.  If you stop growing there you are also dead, but in another way not physically.  Everything you were goin’ to do won’t be done by you.  You may even remember some of the joy you felt at your youngest age—before you died spiritually, or you may remember some of the things you were going to do.

Now, without being alive spiritually, without the renewing of your mind, you’ll never completely grow up.  You will just grow old if you survive that long.  You’re just wastin’ your time—no spiritual rewards in sight.  The renewing of our minds is a great hope we can have in Jesus.  The only real hope you have is to beg Jesus into your life to fix things.  “I came so that none should perish”, Jesus said.  It (wastin’ time) is kind of like what I’m doing here now, but different because I know spiritually I’m supposed to do this –kind of like instinctively and I don’t know the whole impact and I’ll likely not know—for a while (spiritually).  I do know that I will be rewarded in time and times to come—this is hope—wonderful, wonderful hope.  Thank you, God, for renewing my mind, for lifting me up when I got discouraged, and for carrying and sustaining me physically and spiritually..  Wonderful, wonderful  Hope.  Ask Jesus.      Oh yeah--AND GET OUTDOORS!!!  Whee-huuh...

Where do you get and I quote " The only real hope is to beg Jesus into your life to fix things" from ? You do NOT have to BEG Jesus for anything. If you are wanting salvation, ALL you have to do is ASK, it's a FREE gift.

Jesus said, " I have come to GIVE ( not for you to beg ) life, that you may have it more abundantly". You do NOT have to BEG for forgivness. It sounds or seems as though you are bargining with Him on something
( i.e. if you'll do this for me - I'll do that for you, okay Jesus, is that a deal?)

" You are saved through GRACE, and NOT by our own works lest any man should boast" King James version. Rethink the BEGGING part, that's NOT bible. Jesus says to " Ask and you shall receive ". So don't BEG Him for anything.

Well, bowler1, I see your point. You have a problem with BEG vs. ASK, but you agree that things are beyond our control and that people often find themselves in a mess that only Jesus can correct through bein’ born again, right? Agreed then that Jesus offers the only real hope to truly fix things that matter like being saved; I got to that point and begged Him. I started by goin’ to the floor to ask, (on floor not required) but ended up beggin’ as a form of askin’. I didn’t mean anything special by using the word beg. I was only sayin’ that people should ask, even beg because it’s worth it and Jesus offers the only real hope.. Ask Jesus. (Ask Jesus is in the last line of the blog also) Whee Huuh!

To the author of this post, do you understand that the church is Christ's bride at the second coming? Do you understand that all non-believers are considered members of Satan's domain (if you will), and that since they have no resurrected savior, they are called a widow? Okay, now that that is out of the way...

Revelation 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrows.

Or, how about Zephaniah 2:15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

FRIEND, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE THAT PASSIVE AND LET THE HOMOSEXUALS TRAMPLE YOU DOWN LIKE THAT!

I’m not fully comprehending your comments, but thanks Pica, I only posted this to convey what great hope Jesus offers in personal and necessary ways. Whee Huuh!

Brair, I must have left that post because of something you said in a different thread. On reading my post, I can see that it does not tie in with the subject of your initial post. Sorry to throw you off in the loop like that.

Actually, where nobody has to "beg" God for answers to prayers, sometimes getting God's involvement is harder than begging. There is a Bible passage where Christ even had to do a double take when performing one of his miracles (maybe when he spat in the mud and rubbed it in the blind man's eys?). Christ then explained to the disciples that some things can only be done thru fasting and prayer.

We have many milk fed level Christians in the church who never seem to mature. They are led to believe that as long as they'll sit on a pew on Sunday morning - and then quote what that preacher said when Christianity "comes up in the break room," that they are special.

I appreciate your post. I have worked beside plenty of those milkfed babes. Spiritual growth is an important topic!

I think when I posted on this thread I was posting about something you'd written (I thought in this thread) about no longer being so harsh against homosexuals, or something like that. I just re-read my original post on this thread, and then I remembered the nature of what I originally was addressing. Maybe you've edited your post since I first posted- so as not to be mistaken for someone not rebuking bad behavior sharply enough. I hope something good came from my post anyway.

If you read Titus 1, there are times that sharp rebuke is merited. I believe that it is merited if rebuking pro-choice activists, PETA, idolators, fornicators, and people like TJ. I don't know about his race, but TJ's not a "typical republican." He's probably a cosmetologist.

I’m considering voting for Bob Barr and some other Libertarians. I’m fully against abortion and the Libertarians’ platform is that it is an individual’s choice—could that be a position that I can support? That is the way the law is now, but I’m rethinking it because it’s wrong but isn’t it a detriment to the person committing the crime and not against me if I can’t change the policy? I’m just looking for a way to vote because my party chose a woman for VP and I don’t agree with that.. Whee Huuh!

I don't know how to advise anyone for who to vote, only for who to vote against. I too am 100% pro-life. McCain's pro-life is actually costing him voter issues with mainstream republicans and almost-conservative demoncrats. McCain's position is like Bush Sr's position, which is that abortion should be illegal period, with no exceptions. That is what kills it for us. If we use philosophy to decide the law, then it is either too abrasive to some or too liberal for the rest. In the Bible, a woman who was raped had the option to forgive and require her rapist to marry her. Today's women would mock that one to scorn, as does Obama in his mockery of the Bible.

I am voting against the Satanists of the demoncrat party. The only way my vote can do any good is if I vote for a platform that has at least a small chance of winning. The Libertarians cannot win this election, and if the vote goes divided three ways with no clear winner, congress picks the president. I don't know if it is the current or the after election congress, but it'd likely be Obama who they'd pick. I won't vote in a way that risks congress's picking the next president. They are the reason our country is so screwed up, them and the many liberal judges in America.

I'm an Alabaman born and raised. I despise the use of the word Alabamian to describe such a unique person. I hate litter and litterbugs (especially, those that haul used roofing shingles and old sheetrock in open trailers). I quit smoking 19 months ago using Chantax. I'm Baptist. I like Larry Langford and George Bush. I supported John McCain (until he chose a female running mate that may be President in 2012), the War and the economy. I hate politics when things get ugly, but love rabbit huntin'. Anything I write is my own opinion developed through my life experience and beliefs; don't expect me to bore you with a lot of factual justifications (unless you ask for it)!
