I Know some people believe in allah and budda, but, reality check people, how could they be???? None of them made any prophecies come true.  None of them had the power to calm a storm or walk on stormy water.  None of them broke 2 loves of bread and fed 5000 men, not counting women and children.  I could go on almost forever with the list , but my point is, THEIR IS ONLY 1 TRUE GOD, JESUS CHRIST, MY LORD.  And,  Yellowracer, allah is not the one true god.  People WE NEED TO GET BACK TO THE MORALS OF THE FOUNDING FATHERS.  Christ was why our nation was founded, not because of budda.  Post if you care

I am afraid that your lack of knowledge is showing.

Buddha was/is not a god, divine, or made any prophecies. He was/is a guide and a teacher along a spiritual path.

What proof do you have of your beliefs other than a book that was written by men, tampered with by men, and interpeted by men, and of course that warm, fuzzy feeling you get from the "revelations" of salvation and prayer?

When was the last time "God" came down from heaven and personally talked with you and you had a true dialogue with "Him"?

May I suggest that you research what the true religious beliefs were of our founding fathers.

I have a very big distrust of people that believe in religious absolutes and are that narrow-minded. To put things into a perspective, 2/3rds of the world thinks that you are on the wrong spiritual path.

You can debate what "religion" is the truth until the end of time.

Now if you want to debate or discuss the morals of our founding fathers and whether or not this country was founded on religious freedom vs economic freedom, then I'm in!

Dip?? I see that you have at least 5th grade reading skills and retention abilities, along with the same maturity level, sorry if I insulted any 5th graders out there.

So I'll tell you what, whenever you can keep from name calling and are able to look at things objectively so we can have a debate/ discussion and review facts - not fiction - and exchange viewpoints, then I'll get back with you.

Buddhism dates back to 600BC. The religon was created to escape kings who gave human sacrifice. The teaching of Buddhidm summed up is: It revolves around attaining salvation from worldly sufferings, universal brotherhood, peace and non-violence.

Hinduism predates to 3000 BC.

Christianity that is widely practiced today begins with the birth of Jesus. Christianity was forced upon people namely by constantine. those who would not follow were persecuted or banished. The killing of people who refused to follow spread like wild fire for thousands of years. All in the name of the Lord.

So how can one person one religion say they are the best? It is a decision that one makes on their own or passed down to them from previous generations. It is dangerous to say my religion is the only way: What will you do in the name of your Lord? Push it upon others, murder in his name, steal in his name? The line of thinking I am right and the rest of you are sinners is what has caused mass murders for thousands of years.

The Founding Fathers fought to overthrow unfair taxation, (The Boston Tea Party) and religious oppression. They were the exact opposite of religious fanatics; their stifling church is one reason they LEFT Europe.

The Constitution doesn't mention Christianity, or God, at all. It is a secular document outlining the structure of what would become the new government of this nation. Likewise, the First Amendment to the Constitution, which protects every individual's right to practice his or her own religion — bans government "establishment" or direct support of religion — makes no mention of Christianity. If freedom of religion means anything, it must apply equally to minority religions. And if freedoms of speech, press and assembly mean anything, they must apply to all — most particularly those whose views might not be in the current mainstream.

In a democracy, if freedom is not available to all, then no one is truly free.

bigbird, you really want to see something scary about our day and age? Take a look @ my post about Oprah.
2 Tim 4:3-5
3For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.
Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great
number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4They
will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5But
you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of
an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

Go get 'em BeStrong and Stephen! You guys just saved me a lot of typing.

Here come the funnymentalists to start hurling bible verses at us as if that's going to accomplish anything other than entertaining themselves with circular logic.

BeStrong, I've been studying Buddhism for about three months now and the only place I've seen your statement "The religon was created to escape kings who gave human sacrifice." has been here. Could you cite me a reference?

Along with taxation without representation, the British had imposed a lot of "orders", such as manditory housing of troops by private citizens and prevention of the right to assemble, to name a few. The British had the colonies running by themselves via governors. The problem with taxation arose when England decided that the colonies should be taxed, and taxed hard, for the wars it was waging in Europe.

I totally agree with your take on the Constitution.

I watched the youTube video and agree with it too. I'm in the process of putting together a post on the "end times", you know, when the population exceeds its capacity to sustain itself and then war, famine, and pestilence are rampant and all of the Christians will run around claiming that prophecy is being fulfilled.

"Shut up about this heathen." or what? You'll cuss me to death?

I said what I said because you are what you are.

And you call yourself a Christian? This will be the last time I acknowledge you.

Stephen-

Every headline in the newspaper is a fulfillment of prophecy according to some. (I said SOME, and I didn't name any particular religion).

I'm not going to make the mistake of condeming any one group wholesale the way SOME in their groups condem me for categories I fit into.

Careful Stephen and don't lose your temper or you'll be in timeout like Odessacon was! You, JP and BeStrong are correct. LOL JP; funnymentalist! There was NO mention of Christianity in that document by the founding fathers and Bigbird and huntermania might want to check out the true morals of these men!

BTW, not everyone who goes to church is a Christian. To steal a line from one of my favourite preachers, 'I can sit in the garage for a month and still never become a car'.

I agree rabid. heathen, Christians don't have to put up with comments about their religion, just like yours. READ REVELATIONS IN THE BIBLE!

humtemania- I've read the bible, including REVALATION (there's no S).

Most often I find I know more about the bible than christians.

Stephen- I learned it in World Religions but will try and find it on the internet.

I would like it known I am a Christian, the best NO. I think people should be able to choose. The bible states god can knock on your door, but only you let him in.

As far as the bible goes, I will make a contraversial statement. It is a known fact there are chapters missing hidden in the catholic church. If released it could very well change the way christians see their religon.

As far as prophesies go... we can take one or two lines twist it and turn and see how it fits us today.

I am Zen Buddhist (loosely affiliated, I rarely attend practice) BeStrong.

Your 700 BC figure struck me as a bit recent as well.

The school I belong to, like every buddhist organization I know of, traces its zen masters' inka (similar to being ordained) to the original Buddha. So I'm sure they would know (or believe they know) exactly when his time was.

However Zen places such little importance on buddha it doesn't really matter. There is an old Zen proverb, "If you meet the true buddha on the street, kill him".
