In December, we went to Cancun. Now I won the trip from 101.1 the fox.. Well, we had a blast. There were no strings attached to the trip, it was a real prize. They paid for 4 days 3 nights. Airfare, hotel transfers, all inclusive resort taxes, right on the beach. everthing

Well it wasnt my first time to the rodeo, So, I played around with some dates and hotels and extended the stay to 8 days and 7 nights, still all inclusive for only 200.00 more.

We stayed in a little bit smaller resort and the food was awesome and people that were there were just wonderful.

Since we got all this for free, we decided to take a bunch of excursions, We went to chichenitza, cazumel, and we took the Captain Hook's Pirate Cruise..

By the way the pirate cruise was the most fun of all,. They have two big Pirate ships and you sail out and have dinner (lobster or steak or both)There is a show, something is going on all the time and it is funny. You couldnt even finish one drink before the next one was sitting in front of you. After the dinner, the ships meet up in the middle of the ocean and fight each other..

Anyway, I have digressed... I think we would have had a better time if we didnt go all these places, no matter where we went, except the cruise,  there were constant stops. At these places, we always chased after by souvenir or time share pimps. I was even surprised that at the airport, you had to walk past 30 of them hanging around at tables trying to get you to stop with your luggage and all your stuff, with your ride waiting outside, to try and get you to go to a timeshare presentation.

At Chichenitza, They were hanging around inside the National Monument, their wares all displayed on blankets on the ground and would follow you around while you were trying to see the ruins... I must have said no 100 times....

So, if you go to a vacation destination, just know that this WILL happen. Choose your excursion carefully and be prepared to say NO ...  A lot

So, Ok I am done.. just wanted to rant a little....

Which is why I went to an island in Honduras, searching LOL (of course my parents having a house there helped make the decision).

It's not "touristy". I can't stand "touristy" places. Of course everyone thinks it's dangerous and you may not always have cookie cutter activities planned out for you every second of every day... but that's just fine with me.

I got to see the real Honduras - poverty, wealth, 1 room shacks for schools, and real people. Not some whitewashed tour for Americans with more money than taste.

Of course none of this applies to you, I'm just ranting also!

I went to Acapulco. Not as tourist-ish. 2 weeks and loved every minuite of it. I was forced to take this my one and only vacation in my lifetime due to a marrage. Its called a honeymoon. Too bad I married for life. I could use another one of those vacations someday.
46 years old and that was and to this date my only vacation ever.

You should try it again. I have traveled extensively, and except for Cancun and Jamaica, I really havent had so much of this. not even in amsterdam or venice. I just thought it kinda sleezed things out a little for me.
