ABC News says the Bible is a Crutch

This is a good example of where we are today in the USA . We are so far away from what our country was founded on.

Jim Neugent is a coach in Childress , Texas .

Jim writes:

My name is Jim Neugent. I wrote to ABC (on-line) concerning a program
called "THE PRACTICE." In last nights episode, one of the lawyer's
mothers decided she is gay and wanted her son to go to court and help her get a marriage license so she could marry her 'partner.' I sent the following letter to ABC yesterday and really did not expect a reply, but I did get one.

My original message was:

ABC is obsessed with the subject of homosexuality. I will no longer watch any of your attempts to convince the world that homosexuality is OK.

' THE PRACTICE' can be a fairly good show, but last night's program was so typical of your agenda. You picked the 'dufus' of the office to be the one who was against the idea of his mother being gay, and made him look like a whiner because he had convictions.

This type of mentality calls people like me a "gay basher."
Read the first chapter of Romans (that's in the Bible) and see what the apostle Paul had to say about it... He, God and Jesus were all 'gay bashers'. What if she'd fallen in love with her cocker spaniel?
Is that an alternative life style? (By the way, the Bible speaks against that, too.)

Here is ABC's reply from the ABC on-line webmaster:

How about getting your nose out of the Bible (which is ONLY a book of
stories compiled by MANY different writers hundreds of years ago) and
read the declaration of independence (what our nation is built on), where it says "All Men are Created equal," and try treating them that way for a change!
Or better yet, try thinking for yourself and stop using an archaic book of stories as your lame crutch for your existence. You are in t he minority in this country, and your boycott will not affect us at ABC or our freedom of statement.

Jim Neugent's second response ! to ABC:

Thanks for your reply. From your harsh reply, evidently I hit a nerve.
I will share it with all with whom I come in contact. Hopefully, the
Arkansas Democrat Newspaper will include it in one of their columns
and I will be praying for you.

Note: Wouldn't Satan just love it if people stopped using the Bible for a crutch? Please resend this to everyone in your mailbox.

-- Thanks, Jim Neugent

I wonder if the person from ABC considered how many people would read
this e-mail!

This is one we should definitely  pass on. May  GOD Bless You!

I got this e-mail from my aunt today and I can not believe someone at ABC had the nerve to respond to this man in this way.

Yep...sure did...but just goes to show though, that like Sara Gail said...the bible has become just another book....collecting dust on the shelves across the nation.
When is the last time any of us read out of it?
Pick up a good book....read it....it will change your life....
possibly forever.

This actually happened in '99. The "on-line" webmaster" apparently lost his job over it, and rightly so. While he doesn't have to believe what I believe (same as this Neugent guy), his response was unprofessional. A simple "thank you for your concern, I'll forward this to the powers that be" type of reply would have sufficed.

This moring there was a news report that many hotels are now removing the Bible from their rooms. Didn't get the full story, but there was a comment made during the story that there had been complaints that there were no Qurans in the rooms.

Buenos dias, It's a shame that most of us just talk, read or want to know about God only when we are in need, I agree with sister that we need to take that book and read it more often.
On the other hand the whole world does not have to belive in the same as we do, but I think that as long as everyone knows RIGHT from WRONG, who cares on what they belive.
It's sad that some people on earth does not care that the world is going down the drain faster and faster each day, and while some of us care other don't; is it life?! is it normal?! is it God?! or is it just the way it should be?!

chrissaru - it is sad, but in these days it IS considered normal, and I can say this, it is not of GOD.

It all comes back to "Free Will"

Also, knowing right from wrong doesnt get you to heaven for eternity with our creator, but it is a start, turning from our sins, only accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior will do that.

GOD Bless,
jerry

I would much rather have the BIBLE for a crutch for the rest of my life than to not have it in my life at all!Now they are banning the BIBLE at the Olympics,China is really pushing it,poisoning kids toys and now the WORD OF GOD!

ralex, that is one way to look at it, but if we are true followers, we should have a burden on our hearts for the non believers and even the ones that havnt even heard about the plan of salvation.

You would be surprised at how many people has never set foot inside a church let alone has heard of the plan of salvation, it is our purpose to make sure they know.

Heaven has no bounds, it was actually made for everyone, but free will got in the way.

GOD Bless,
jerry

With so much evil in the heats of non believers, sometimes those that have already confessed to sin,and have given their life over to GOD,tend to forget our reward is waiting in HEAVEN,and not on earth! You do not have to go to church to ask GOD into your life, church is how we share our faith with our fellow Christians. We should care about those that do not know GOD,and we should welcome all who want to know GOD,REMEMBER HE WAS ON A CROSS NEXT TO A THIEF AND A MURDERER.
