There is a new law starting the first of next year that prohibits you from covering the "ARIZONA" on the top of your rear license plate.  Check your license plate frame to make sure you don't have to pay a steep fine.  FOX10 may want to do a story on this if they haven't yet.

I think it's a good idea. I also wonder why Arizona only has rear plates. How many times have places been robbed and the security camera gets a picture of the thief backing away? With front plates the license plate number could have been gotten.

Thanks for the heads up. Just went out and looked at mine and sure enough, Arizona is covered up.

I saw the story on a news station I rarely watch. Driving around, I noticed a lot of license plates with the ARIZONA covered up. I HOPE they give warnings most of the time and not fines. The good thing about this new law is that Sheriff Joe will have another excuse to pull people over to check their citizenships. So I hope Joe does a sweep the first day of this new law.

Ken:

As I was reading this I was looking for someone to bring up Joe. Except I was thinking it would be bashing like it usually is.

I hope he uses it!

I am so mad they are doing this. I currently sport a Sacramento Kings frame, I have a cherry one I like to use as well and both of those cover the Arizona words on my plate. Maybe if I put both plates on my car I can use my frame on the front frame and leave the back frame free???

BEFORE THEY ENFORCE THIS NEW LAW, THEY SHOULD FIRST MAKE NEW LIC. PLATES WITH THE NAME OF ARIZONA IN THE CENTER OF THE PLATE, JUST AS THE MAJORITY OF THE STATES IN THE UNION HAVE DONE. SIMPLE SOLUTION.

This should be a unified law across the U.S.

The people who make license plate covers should conform to us and not us to them.

Putting the state name in the middle of the plate would conflict with the numbers and letters already there. All parts of the plate should be clear and visible.
