I studied German for 5 years while in College getting my degrees. One of the classes required for the German Minor was History of the German Peoples. In that class we learned about how Hitler came to power. The people coming out of WWI were tired, hungry, poor and sick and tired of being sick and tired. Hitler was ripe for the picking in the 1920’s when Germany was in economic crisis. Prices of eggs had risen 300000 times in just 10 years (HMMMMM SOUND FAMILIAR)

By time Hitler was ready to run for President, the Nazis gradually devised an electoral strategy to win northern farmers and white collar voters in small towns, which produced a landslide electoral victory in September 1930. After a couple run off elections he finally settled for a coalition government and declared himself Chancellor.

The Nazis won their support primarily from the lower middle class and the peasantry. These voters were strongly nationalistic in their political views and feared that the depression would deprive them of their standard of living. In religion, most of the Nazis’ supporters were Protestants. German Catholics remained firm in their support of the Catholic Center Party.

I could go on and on, but my point is this: Obama has NO REAL platform, neither did Hitler. Hitler was elected because the people of Germany did not see his true self until it was too late. He preyed upon their weakness….. their weakness??? THEY WERE HUNGRY, POOR and AFRAID.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Alot of us do get it, the problem is you have all those who beleive freebies are free. they do not get that nothing in life is free. You pay for it one way or another. It is a matter of how much you want to pay and that is what they do not get. All you have to do is look at any socialistic country and you will see real quickly what the cost for freebies really is.

Let's hope that the majority of people know the difference between a platform and charisma.

Weak. Really stretching it to compare Obama to Hitler and the events of the two countries leading up to the election.

History Buff huh?

History repeats itself all the time.

Look up Japanese Americans, 1942, internment camps, for a beginning of Americans having their "rights" taken away.

The majority of the people vote style over substance. Here's Obama talking to 200,000 people of Berlin, crowd going crazy, and here's McCain, eating a German Brat in a Deli in Ohio or someplace. Pitiful. The image exudes oldness.

Obama may be in Germany, but it is a successful campaign stop for his American supporters.

I agree it is wrong to compare Obama to Hitler.

But saying this is successful is maybe also a stretch. Yes his supporters who love him for no other than reason than they do will love him more.

But look at the polls. McCain could light his remaining hair on fire and belly crawl through the well of the Senate in a diaper and wouldn't get coverage over Obama...yet they are virtually dead tied in the polls.

Despite how the media portrays him as some rock star he is FAR from running away with it. He is super popular with those who already love him but he is not gaining any new supporters. People still do not trust him.

In tough times many people will choose the devil they know over the devil they donot know

If that's the case, then perhaps you should practice what you preach and take a lesson from our own history. The republicans have successfully put this country in the toilet several times now. Now they need to simply apologize and go away. GET A CLUE!

Obama and Hitler... that is a stretch... though I can see where the comparison starts. But let's look at that a little closer.

Bush and Hitler.

Both leaders began to systematically take away the rights of their People, in the name of Natinal Defense. Both Leaders took their Nation to war, in the name of National Defense.

Both leaders destroyed their National Econonmy, people's identity, and the trust of the world... for many of the same reasons.

Both leaders broke their own Nations Laws, or changed them to work in their favor.

We can compare every President in some way to the Political Genius that was Hitler. But the reality is... none of them ARE HITLER. And this comparison proves that you aren't much of a History Buff, but an opportunist, wanting to smear Obama.

Bush has done the same things Hitler did to Germany. I still believe the bigger problem is the central banking system. Because the money is in private hands ( The Fed. Res.) they are able to by politicians. The banks, run everything with complete impunity. If a bank goes belly up the tax payer bail them out, while the bankers get to keep all their ill gotten gains. Jail all the members of the Federal Reserve, confiscate all their personal assets, homes, art, boats, cars, planes, stocks, bonds, freeze all their off shore accounts, and charge them all with conspiracy and fraud. Put all of their families on the street then move onto Wall Street and Congress and the White House. Problem Solved. Wait a minute somebody is at the door.

what really scares me is that I have a feeling that the simple minded folks will think that the deciding factor between Barry Obama and McCain will be who will lower the gas prices the most. Don't you guys see the smoke screen??? They want us to be scared of the gas and food prices so that they can sneak up on us with the meat and potatoes that they want to impose on us.

I never NEVER NEVER in my post talked about the outcomes of having Hitler in office. I was not comparing Hitler and Obama Bin laden, the person. Rather, I wanted to bring up the point that you never know WHO your wolf in sheeps clothing is. Hitler did not run on the platform that he wanted to obliterate the Jews. Obama is not running on the platform that he wants to be king on the globe and run American into a fascist socialist death.

We really need to examine our beliefs as individuals and as a nation and vote for the person who will lead America, rather than play chess master with the world.

Linecrosser... It is scary that the gubbermint is so willing to bail the banking system out of hot water. Do we really want the government to be involved with corporations and big business????

I think Hitler's spirit lives through a Texan wannabe Mexican or Colombian, with the name of manipulator and full of BS. What color are his eyes really? It the small stuff, the saying is don't sweat the small stuff, however, it was the small stuff I was picking up on Obama's fashion run way. First of all the middle east doesn't seem to respect him, nor did he have the mannerism it takes to deal with national diplomats and to know when to speak to or when not to speak, then you do not compare different countries and say that is exactly what is wrong with my country, as was the case in Germany. If a man represents your country as a whole (you as individuals), and you are depending on him to say the most intelligent things or handle himself in a manner that would gain world wide respect, then you certainly do not send a temporary foreign exchange person over to upset the middle east, nor do you compare apples to oranges. If worst comes to worst presidents can be impeached, that is a option. It is better than the one Hillary metioned.

some of you are morons...plain and simple.

Hitler didnt destroy the economy he made Germany a powerhouse it was the war and his drive for world domination that lead to the destruction of the country....but his rise to power was a good thing economically for the poeple until he really went bat-tastic crazy.

Aside from that...please name for me 5 rights that you had on January 19, 2001 that you do not have today on July 29, 2008 thanks to George W. Bush....5 factual rights that have been taken away from you.

Also the president does not control the economy. War time is actually good for the economy so you cant have that one. So tell me how this president single handedly destroyed the economy...an economy by that way is still growing by at least 1% each quarter (cant really call something thats growing destroyed).

Trust of the world is a pie in the sky thing. No one has ever trusted the US. They love us when they needs us and hate us when they dont. But all in all the same people really rated us prior to GWB still do and those who are friendly still are.

Your argument is shiznit plain and simple. And EVERYTIME ANYONE brings out the "XYZ is like Hitler" your argument goes down the toilet. You cannot compare any modern day democratic leader with a mass murder of millios and person who took the ENTIRE world to war. It cannot be done.
