Many in the mainstream media and the Radical anti-religion(except Muslim) Left would like to paint this man as an Evangelical Christian. Oh contrar manfrair...

Pastor Rick Warren, the “new age fundamentalist” preacher picked by Barack Obama to deliver the invocation at his inauguration, gave a speech last night to the new age radical Islamic front group MPAC: Pastor Rick Warren addresses Muslim group, emphasizes need to find common ground.

MPAC’s “moderation” is questionable, to say the least. A few hours after the 9/11 attacks, MPAC co-founder Salam Al-Marayati infamously told a Los Angeles talk radio audience: “If we’re going to look at suspects, we should look at the groups that benefit the most from these kinds of incidents, and I think we should put the state of Israel on the suspect list because I think this diverts attention from what’s happening in the Palestinian territories so that they can go on with their aggression and occupation and apartheid policies.”

Fresh from being tapped to deliver the invocation at President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration, Orange County Pastor Rick Warren spoke Saturday night to about 800 members of the Muslim Public Affairs Council at its convention in Long Beach.

Warren’s theme was about people getting along, forgetting their differences and focusing on areas of agreement. The audience cheered him, and many people rose to their feet. Among the first to stand was singer Melissa Etheridge, a lesbian, who performed for the audience.

Recognizing the potential for controversy, Warren said near the beginning of his speech: “Let me just get this over very quickly. I love Muslims. And for the media’s purpose, I happen to love gays and straights.”

He said people ask him what he prays for when it comes to Obama. “I pray for the president the same things I pray for myself: integrity, humility and compassion,” he said.

A council spokeswoman acknowledged that some members objected to the choice of the evangelical pastor as the keynote speaker. “We’re always looking to work with unlikely partners, and I think he’s a new kind of evangelical,” said spokeswoman Edina Lekovic. “We have a lot in common.”

Warren, like many Muslims, opposes abortion and same-sex marriage.

If the campaign is any indicator, I suspect that for the next four years there is always going to be a "story behind the story". Seems like the incoming ruler has an aversion to speaking or acting plainly, for fear that someone might actually know what he's all about. "Transparency" is useless when all you are allowed to see is obvuscation of facts. As far as I can tell, "Nuanced" is another word for carpetbagger.

Rick Warren is a homophobe and represents a position across the aisle from Barack Obama. The President-Elect has appointed other Republicans to help in his cabinet and in the innaugural. He promised to resach across the aisle and he is.
I too oppose abortion, but believe the decision is the mother's and father's and their God,not your ever present politician.
As for same-sex marriage, it doesnt matter what you call it as long as 2 of God's children can unite in common bond and be entitled to the same benefits as other couples.
Hetero-sexuals have done such a great job with the "sacred" marriage, that our divorce rate is the highest in the world. I suspect it is even easier to get a divorce than to get married.
So get off the "hot button" issue of same-sex "marriage", making it so sacred and holy. It is for many, but evidently not for the masses.

I for one am one that it is sacred and holy nervous will. It didnt used to be, but when I married my husband and let god into our marriage and we conducted our marriage according to biblical teachings.... it was a beautiful thing.. one that I dont want scarred by a bunch of people that just act on every urge they have and then try to justify to me... that it is normal behavior.. the fact is they are trying to convince themselves and want props from everyone else too..

As far as abortion goes.. it IS their decision.. I just dont think anyone in this country ought to be forced to sit on their hands and do and say nothing.. and make it easy for them to kill a baby.

There will be a day of judgement. It is not now, and we are not to be the ones doing the judging, isnt that correct. I intend to do my part not to judge lest I be judged.
But since bloggers are annnomymous, I am not sure how "well connected with the Almighty" some of these bloggers are. Perhaps these opionions are what would you say "official"

Just an aside, why does aborting an unborn get higher outrage from the evangelical right than killing innocent civilian adults in bombings in Iraq, sending innocent young people into ill conceived and politically motivated conficts where thousands lose their lives, and on and on?
The medical community has to bear part of the shame, keeping defective fetuses alive in order to soak insurance, families and taxpayers for years of care when they know there is no future for the yet to be born.
This is not a simple subject, and thank God, one I will not have to face. Should I had to, it would have been between my wife, my self, my pastor and other family. Not the Government thank you just same.
The only reason the government is interested is get out the vote, using the evangeical right to help thank you very much.

You don't think you will be judged on knowing this is going on and standing by and doing nothing to stop it, or at least try and voice an opinion that might change someone else's mind? No man is an island. Life is sacred... period.

How else are you supposed to work with people unless you have dialogue with them.We cannot force democracy on any one culture.Until the people are ready too take care of themselves and work together it will not work. The whole idea behind democracy is people working together to find solutions. This means hearing the opinions of people you may not agree with and accepting that you just might know the best way or have all of the answers. As long as the United States wants to have it's hand in middle eastern politics we are going to have to find ways of working with them.Everyone has seen the current policies concerning the middle east and they have proven to be failed ideas and policies.Time for a new approach.

Jturner30,
If we cannot work together we are doomed. But for every person in line to work together, there are 5 on the side lines poking fun, ridiculing the changers, and silently wishing for failure, (you only need to look at bloggers for confirmation of that thought).

God has not spoken to me at night or during the day, telling me, Go Forth and Impose my Will on Everyone you Meet. As part of that power, you can recognize at a glance anyone that has not been "saved". You are, of course, in a position to render judgements on each and every family crisis, short cutting the
need for personal prayer or clerical counseling.
With those kinds of direct instructions I fully understand your enthusiasm for carrying out these missions.

Abortion due to rape with early termination I believe is the right of the individual. However, many have abused the right to an abortion and have repeated their mistakes and abortion just becomes a meaningless option.
On the other hand there is this population issue.
When the world becomes over populated there will be more wars.
So a person has to ask, do you want more wars due to overpopulation or do you want control of family sizes imposed?

Nervous will. I am not saying to go out and IMPOSE his will. But if you have the opportunity for testimony.. to a person who is not saved.. seems more effective to me.... then yes you are supposed to.

I understand that being black, your society accepts this action much more readily, or else one of the minorities would not be receiving the majority of the abortions out there. and there is no denying that planned parenthood KNOWS that is it more cost effective to set up most of their abortion clinics near black ghettos... they have been trashed in the media for this type of nationwide selection.. many times. calling it racist.. no.. they are just going where the business is.

Perhaps, your mission is to start with your own race and teach some self respect and maybe the amount of unwanted, unsupported pregnancies would go down..

Oh, and blacks are the largest percentage of repeat business, too.

Excuse me mister JohnK, did you have a mother? Just wondering because you seem a very cold hearted, loveless, bitter man. Do you not believe in love? And if so, could you give me the definition? Have you never loved before? Does no one love you? I am sorry you are so angry and excuse me for saying so but I think you are a very misguided and hurtful person, what would God think about the things you are saying about the people he put on His earth? Do you think about these things before you write them? Just one more question, are you the kind of person that thinks your way is the only correct way? If so, I hope that you can realize that its not about you. You hurt people and make them sad. I have read a lot of what you write and I just thought you should know that you don't look as good as you think you do when you say these things.

I watched Ann Curry, on Dateline ..interview with RW. He is right, about same sex marriages - not his opinion. It was written thousands of years ago .. 2 men should not lay down, together - nor 2 women. This should not even be adiscussion.
Two men have never, nor should they ever have expectations of marriage. Same with 2 women - there has never been the expectation of marriage. Since the beginning of time, marriage has been instituted as 1 man & 1 woman. The expulsion, from the garden, did not change this. The fact that we, as humans, have screwed it up, does not change any of it. The Bible cannot be rewritten to satisfy a group of any kind.
The same sex marriage controversy doesn't even come close to the civil rights movment - can't even walk in the same space.
Homophobic is a nonsensical word. Could never understand why they were called 'gay'. They don't seem to be very happy, to me.
Same sex can love whomever they wish; they can live wherever they wish; they can do whatever they wish; they can work wherever they wish. Who cares who they have on their insurance policiy? Their civil rights are not denied them.
Marriage is a separate issue. It is not just someting we do - altho, it sometimes appears to be.
The argument is always put forth that Jesus walked among the poor & rejected. He ate with them, He talked to them. He treated everyone as equal. And He most assuredly did.
Here's the part that is always left out. Jesus caused those people to change their lives, just because He sat with them. He did not change HIs father's mission, nor

Have you ever considered the reasons WHY there is a disportionate number of abortions between whites and minorities? You seem to think that it's an easy out for minorities, "start with your own race & teach some self respect".

I looked at the stats you quoted & they raised a couple of questions.

1) Is the number of white abortions lower because more whites have acess to health care & can have a "morning after" pill prescibed by the doctor on their health care coverage. (These are harder to keep track of & are much easier to cover up than a trip to a clinic.)

2) Is the number of white abortions lower because it is easier to get an adoptive parent for a white baby as compared to a black baby?

3) According to the stats that you quote, the abortion rate increases during harder economic times. Since bad economic times affect African-Americans more quickly than Whites, could the economy beginning to fail increase the number of abortions in minority communities?

1. the morning after pill is available to all races.. doesn't just work on whites. Oh, so are birthcontrol pills and condoms...

2. you have to be kidding me...

3. Yes

I work with 42 women.. all but 2 ( I am one of them) are black. All of the women that work here have children.. multiple. some with several different fathers.. only 3 or them get child support in any type of regularity, the rest get nothing and several ( I cant give an exact count, cause there is a lot of lying aboutthis one) dont even know who the fathers are... I am not saying this doesnt happen with other races.. but seems to be pretty prominent in the black race with the stats around here.. and these are ones that work..
