Ok we have all seen the christmas lights hanging on houses this time of year.  When is the appropriate time to take them down?

I think anytime past Jan 2nd is too long.  What are your thoughts?

I just have to shake my head when I see houses decorated well into Feb.  I mean the holidays are over and it's a new year.

Jigsaw,I think Jeff Foxworthy had a "You could be a Redneck If" on this ?. Leaving the lights up all year is probably ok its if you keep them lit after New Years?

Did it ever cross your mind that maybe it is because they could be celebrating it late because of financial problems? It could be the case, believe me I know. We won't be celebrating until after the fisrt of the year because my husband was laid off for some time and we can't until probably Feb. We didn't even bother putting our lights up but I did consider it and thought about leaving thm up and on until we could celebrate it but now I am glad we didn't.
Why are people so quick to judge?

Sometimes people leave their decorations up because they are waiting for their soldier to come home on leave. Military leave doesn't always coincide with the actual holidays.

Those are all somewhat valid arguements. It's not so much that you have them hanging on your house its the fact that the lights are still turned on.

Celebrating x-mas in Feb because of financial problems ok I can cope with that.

Waiting for your soldier to come home? Maybe I'll see some lights lit up this year in April?!?!

Wow Jigsew, thanks for bringing this very important issue to my attention. I am going to get a petition going and see if the city council can pass a law to prohibit xmas lights after Jan.2nd. Throw um in jail, take away their kids if they cant afford xmas until Feb. because of finacial reasons. You really need to get a life.

quilla, I guess thats ok if one only thinks that Xmas is for giving gifts rather a time to give thanks. We are giving and receiving very few gifts maybe none.

ozone, normally it is about giving thanks for us too but this year after loosing a son, a brother, a best friend that was only 20 years old and the best of everything it is kind of hard right now. I personally for myself don't expect gifts, I would rather give than recieve. All I was saying is that is why some people leave their lights on past Jan. 2nd.

I watch, I interact, and I move among you. I'm everywhere and nowhere. I pull the strings, plot and scheme. We all are playing one huge game, but are you on the right team? Are you honest and true to others....yourself? I'm not angry, just a judge in what is right and what is wrong. I don't only speak about this.....I act.
