SHOULD MARIJUANA USE BE LEGAL? Marijuana Currently, 13 states have laws on the books stating it’s not a crime to possess small amounts of marijuana. Internationally, other countries have similar legislation. A number of studies reveal legalization of pot does not necessarily lead to increased usage.

I get they feeling they wish it wasn't put to a vote.

As I have said 100 times before.

Let the people make the choice. Let it be just like alcohol, let each state choose how they want to handle it & leave them alone afterwards.

on rape and bribery charges for coercing sex from female inmates and drug court defendants. Former Sheriff Mike Burgess, 56, was convicted of 13 felonies, including five counts of second-degree rape and three counts of bribery by a public official. Testimony included that of several former female inmates who testified they feared they would be sent to prison if they did not provide sexual favors to the sheriff, as well as two female drug court participants. Burgess sexually assaulted one of them in his patrol car after arresting her for a drug court violation.

In Oakland, California, 11 police officers, including two sergeants, were fired January 15 for their roles in falsifying search warrant affidavits in drug cases. The police officers would make a drug buy, then seek a search warrant from a judge, telling him the substances had been tested when they hadn't. Oakland Police discovered the problem during an internal affairs investigation and went public at the end of September. Now, the city faces lawsuits from at least seven people claiming Oakland police "have repeatedly violated the constitutional rights of citizens by fabricating information in reports (and) providing false and/or intentionally misleading information in warrant affidavits to the court." A number of pending cases have been dropped, too.  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28691697

In Muncie, Indiana, the Delaware County prosecutor must repay $168,092 unlawfully seized in drug cases, a circuit court judge ruled last Friday. Delaware County Prosecutor Mark McKinney collected the seized assets and attorneys' fees in confidential agreements without a court order. Indiana state law requires a court order, and it requires that asset forfeiture proceeds be divided between state and local government and schools, but McKinney instead deposited the funds into accounts for the Muncie-Delaware County Drug Task Force and the Muncie city police department. McKinney has 30 days to come up with the money. Deputy Prosecutor Eric Hoffman also has to repay $17,164. The judge in the case said both men had perpetrated "a fraud on the court" by their actions. http://www.thestarpress.com/article/20090117/NEWS01/90

In Huntsville, Alabama, the city, the police chief, and a former officer are being sued by a man who claims the officer planted marijuana in his car and then arrested him for marijuana possession. Officer Wesley Little and another officer, Ryan Moore, were indicted in May 2008 on criminal evidence tampering charges in the case, and the charges against Quincy Turner were later dropped. Little and Moore were investigated after Little was overheard saying "there could be some marijuana inside the vehicle if it needed to be." Both Little and Moore resigned from the Huntsville Police Department in June, but now, the good citizens of Huntsville are likely to pay for their out-of-control employees' misdeeds. http://www.waaytv.com/Global/story.asp?S=9682649p>

June 20, 2008—MO

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department raided a two-family home, breaking down the doors, damaging walls and furniture, and using a smoke grenade. The home they entered was that of Ms. Mary Valentine, 86, who was physically unharmed during the raid. Ms. Valentine has been unsuccessful in her demands for an apology and compensation from the police department for the damage done to her home.

Source:  St. Louis American, September 4, 2008

Officers from the Combined Ozark Multi-Jurisdictional Enforcement Team conduct a raid on Durr-Pojar's home on an anonymous tip that the woman and her son are running a meth lab inside. Police break out windows, tear down doors and screens, throw objects out a second story window, and throw Durr-Pojar and Pojar to the ground and handcuff them. Durr-Pojar suffers a gash beneath her eye and requires a splint and crutches for kneed injuries. Pojar gets contusions under his eye and on his back.

Police find no meth and no meth lab. They conduct a second raid on the trailer where Pojar lives in front of his mother's home and find a small amount of marijuana.

Greene County Sheriff Jack Merritt later tells a local newspaper that Durr-Pojar's injuries were her own fault, because she "shouldn't have run" when the black-clad SWAT team raided her home. Sources:Springfield News-Leader, June 19, 2006

In October 1986, police raid the St. Louis home of Gary Miller, based on a tip from a confidential informant. In the course of the search, a Detective Clifford of the St. Louis Police Department steps on an infant baby's head while attempting to search the home's ceiling for drugs.

Police find no drugs or weapons, nor do they make any arrests. Police do, however, seize about $13,000 in cash from Mr. Miller. Under asset forfeiture laws, the police department gets to keep the money. Even though he is never charged with a crime, it is up to Mr. Miller to prove he didn't get the money through drug transactions.

In 1992, the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals rules that although there is no evidence of drug use or distribution on the part of Mr. Miller, he failed to prove he earned the money legitimately. The police get to keep the money they seized in the raid.

Beer Companies Oppose Pro-Health & Safety Reforms

  • Raising beer taxes

  • Minimum legal drinking age (21) laws

  • .08 Blood Alcohol Content levels

  • Sobriety checkpoints

  • Open container laws

  • Restrictions on youth-oriented alcohol advertisements

  • The inclusion of alcohol in the Office of National Drug Policy's (ONDCP) national youth anti-drug media campaign

The Incredible Shrinking Beer Tax

Economics:

  • The federal beer tax has been increased only once in the last five decades, 1991.  Even at today's rate, $18.00 per barrel, the tax would have to increase to $1.15 per six-pack (from its current level of approximately $0.33) just to offset the effects of inflation since 1951.

  • In its September 2003 report, the National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine recommended raising alcohol excise taxes, stating that "top priority should be given to raising beer taxes," since underage drinkers use and abuse beer more than any other type of alcoholic beverage.1

  • The federal beer tax produced more than $3.6 billion for the federal treasury in 2005.2 However, if the rate had merely kept up with inflation since 1951, the amount of revenue collected would have exceeded $13 billion.3

  • The combined federal and average state beer excise tax rate amounts to $0.47 per six-pack, or less than 10% of the average price of a six-pack.

  • 23 states have not raised their beer-tax rates in more than 20 years.  As a result, the current rates have eroded in value by up to 87 percent in some states.

  • Many states with low beer-tax rates are missing the opportunity to pay for much-needed state programs, such as public education, healthcare, substance abuse treatment and prevention, and others, by keeping those rates low.  Modest increases in the tax rate could raise millions in state revenue.

  • State alcohol taxes have declined in value by an average of 46 percent in the past 20 years.3

  • Raising beer taxes will raise beer prices and moderately depress consumption, ultimately reducing alcohol-related problems (see below).

  • Low beer-tax rates are reflected in low beer prices and increased availability of beer to underage youth and other price-sensitive people.

Taxes & Consumption:

  • Numerous studies show that raising beer taxes will help reduce alcohol-related problems:

    • gonorrhea and syphilis rates4

    • incidents of crime and violence, especially domestic violence, child abuse, and rapes5

    • beer consumption by underage youth6

    • alcohol-related traffic fatalities and crashes7

  • Increasing beer taxes could:

    • provide millions of dollars for state coffers -- money that can be used for education programs, healthcare funding, substance abuse treatment and prevention programs, etc.

    • increase college attendance and graduation rates.8

Public Opinion:

  • Public opinion polls show that a large majority of adults support raising beer taxes to fund youth substance abuse treatment and prevention programs.9

  • The American Medical Association (AMA) found that the majority of Americans (65%) prefer raising alcohol taxes to other taxes to help reduce state budget deficits.  In particular, most Americans (52%) think that their state's beer tax rate should be raised, with 32% stating that the beer tax should be raised "a lot."10

  • More than 70% of Americans want to raise beer taxes to fund the following programs:10

    • education and health care

    • stronger enforcement of drinking and driving laws

    • treatment programs for teenagers with drinking problems

    • stronger underage drinking law enforcement

    • prevention programs for underage people

    • state budget deficit

    • treatment programs for people with drinking problems

    • cutting other state taxes

  • Most Americans agree that it's fair to tax beer more than other products because of the social and health problems caused by alcohol consumption.  In addition, a majority of Americans would support raising alcohol taxes if the revenues go to specific earmarked funds.

Consider the facts:

  • "Underage drinkers consumed between 10 and 20 percent of all alcohol downed in 2000, representing about $11 to $22 billion [dollars] in sales."1

  • "The alcohol most favored by underage drinkers is beer."1

  • "Heavy and binge drinking peak at age 21, and the top 20% of alcohol consumers account for about 87-89% of all of the alcohol consumed in the U.S."2

  • "Most of the beer market derives from heavy drinking.  The heaviest-drinking 10% of beer drinkers accounts for 43% of all reported beer consumption, and nearly 60% of all beer is consumed in amounts of five or more drinks per day.  Beer drinking by the top five percent of drinkers accounts for more than half (55%) of all alcohol consumed in hazardous amounts."3

  • "For every responsibility ad that aired in 2002 there were 226 alcohol product ads.  For every dollar spent on responsibility ads in 2002, the industry spent $99 on product ads."4

CAHOKIA, Ill. — Jeremy Chambers was more than a police officer, his stunned colleagues and friends said after learning that Chambers was killed early Monday morning when his squad car was struck head-on by a driver who police say had been drinking.

Chambers, 26, was a volunteer firefighter who sped to New York to help after the attack on the World Trade Center. He later worked as an emergency medical technician before joining the Cahokia force in 2003, and he was a lifeguard at the Cahokia pool as a teen.

But he was happiest as a cop, said those who watched Chambers develop from the son of a respected officer into a respected officer himself.

Off-Duty Police Officer Killed By Alleged Drunk Driver

A Manhattan man has been charged with reckless endangerment, vehicular manslaughter, and driving while intoxicated, after police say he struck and killed an off-duty police officer on his motorcycle early Monday morning.

Police say 31-year-old Alexander Felix was riding his Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Broadway, just a couple of blocks from his home, when he was hit by a white Mercury Villager going northbound.

Felix slammed into another car at the intersection of Broadway and Dongan Place in Inwood. He died at the scene.

Kevin Tasado, 32, the minivan driver, has been charged with driving while intoxicated. He is recovering at Harlem Hospital.

Felix's family said he had been with the NYPD for three years and was assigned to the 30th Precinct.

Stunned relatives say he and his wife were expecting a baby girl this summer. DELTONA, Fla. -- A drunk driver, who hit and killed a Longwood police officer on I-4, will go to jail for six months. The crash happened last July after someone threw a lawn chair into the middle of the interstate in Deltona.

The maximum sentence 20-year-old Dwayne Love could have faced was a year. Prosecutors only charged Love with DUI and driving while his license was suspended, but not for the death of the police officer that he hit and killed.

Deputies led Love away in handcuffs Tuesday, but it may not be for nearly as long as some people hoped. He received a sentenced of six months for driving drunk when Love hit and killed Longwood Police Sergeant Carl Strohsal on I-4 last July.

"When he died that night, it took part of the family with him. I can't even begin to tell you how devastating it is to have lost him," said Carol Strohsal, the victim's wife.

The prosecution called Carol Strohsal, the officer's wife of 37 years, to the stand to try to convince the judge to give Love the maximum sentence of one year, plus 60 days in jail.

BALTIMORE -- A man who killed two Baltimore City police officers while driving drunk returns to the streets.

Shane Weiss Police officers and family members are angry after Shane Weiss (pictured, right) was released from prison Wednesday. In October 2000, Weiss -- whose blood-alcohol level was 0.13 -- admitted to driving drunk, running a stop sign and ramming the police car, killing the two officers inside.

Weiss was sentenced to six years in jail and served a little more than half of that sentence. He served three years and two months and will be under mandatory supervision for the next three years.

So why is this guy let go?

Pollard is serving life, this guy gets off free.

An 85-year-old former US army engineer has admitted passing classified military documents to Israel during the 1980s, prosecutors say.

Kadish, who pleaded guilty to only one of the four espionage-related charges he originally faced, entered the plea at a New York court on Tuesday.

He is set to be sentenced in February and could face a maximum of five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

However, a US prosecutor said on Tuesday that the government would not oppose a sentence that means Kadish will not serve time in prison, the Associated Press reported.

Yagur has been linked in court documents to the case of Jonathan Pollard, a US citizen who is serving a life sentence for a 1985 charge of spying for Israel.

Court papers say Kadish's alleged spying took place between 1979 and 1985, although he maintained contact with an Israeli consular official until this year.

Israel has denied spying on the US after 1985.

Classified documents

The charges alleged that the Israeli consular official, identified in the indictment as "CC-1", gave Kadish lists of classified documents to obtain from the US Army's Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Centre at the Picatinny Arsenal in the state of New Jersey.

The documents included information about nuclear weapons, fighter jets and the US Patriot missile air defence system, prosecutors say.

Kadish, who worked at the arsenal from 1963-1990, kept in touch with CC-1 via telephone and email and met the official in Israel in 2004, authorities said.

"CC-1" had left the US in 1985 and has never returned, the US authorities said.

Ben-Ami Kadish was accused of providing the documents, including some relating to US nuclear weapons systems, to an Israeli agent, Yosef Yagur, who photographed them at Kadish's home.

Need folks opinion.

If you were going to buy a new .45ACP 1911 style gun.

Which manufacture would you choose?

I am really leaning towards a Kimber, but they are expensive. There are several gun discussion boards that speak of Kimber's jamming.

What is you favorite hand gun?

Whose is the most accurate?

Israel and the United States have a longtime understanding on the nuclear issue, which was reached between former prime minister Golda Meir and former president Richard Nixon in 1969. Israel promised at that time that it would hew to a policy of ambiguity.

<a href="http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ambigu
ity">ambiguity</a
>

So we have been helping Israel hide their nuke's all along.                                         Leading Israeli officials are concerned that if the United States begins talks with Iran in an effort to halt its nuclear program and development of additional nuclear programs in the Middle East, Washington will call for restrictions on Israel's nuclear capability as well. When Benjamin Netanyahu was prime minister, he requested - and received - a letter of guarantees from then-president Bill Clinton in which he promised the United States would work toward preserving Israel's strategic deterrence and make sure arms control initiatives in the Middle East would not harm Israel.

Since the USA is BROKE, will the $30 billion still be given to Israel this year?

Will they (Israel) be forced to supply a plan for middle east peace? A plan that they will actually live by?

Prolly not.

Shariah-compliant banking, sometimes called Islamic banking, is growing in popularity in the Western and Islamic worlds. But critics say American interest in the system at a time of economic crisis is opening the door to increased Islamic influence in the American banking system. Worse yet, some fear the banks may be helping to finance international terrorism.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,451416,00.html

To me this is just as true as President Bush urged people to quit bying Mexican weed, as the are supporting the drug gangs.

So what do business with islamic banks so they can fund the terrorist's?

This doesn't sound very smart. I bet Obama is all for it.

Last I knew this is a NO NO

3rd Infantry’s 1st BCT trains for a new dwell-time mission. Helping ‘people at home’ may become a permanent part of the active Army.

The 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team has spent 35 of the last 60 months in Iraq patrolling in full battle rattle, helping restore essential services and escorting supply convoys.

Now they’re training for the same mission — with a twist — at home.

Beginning Oct. 1 for 12 months, the 1st BCT will be under the day-to-day control of U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command, as an on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks.

They may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control or to deal with potentially horrific scenarios such as massive poisoning and chaos in response to a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive, or CBRNE, attack.

Training for homeland scenarios has already begun at Fort Stewart and includes specialty tasks such as knowing how to use the “jaws of life” to extract a person from a mangled vehicle; extra medical training for a CBRNE incident; and working with U.S. Forestry Service experts on how to go in with chainsaws and cut and clear trees to clear a road or area.

The 1st BCT’s soldiers also will learn how to use “the first ever nonlethal package that the Army has fielded,” 1st BCT commander Col. Roger Cloutier said, referring to crowd and traffic control equipment and nonlethal weapons designed to subdue unruly or dangerous individuals without killing them.

“It’s a new modular package of nonlethal capabilities that they’re fielding. They’ve been using pieces of it in Iraq, but this is the first time that these modules were consolidated and this package fielded, and because of this mission we’re undertaking we were the first to get it.”
The package includes equipment to stand up a hasty road block; spike strips for slowing, stopping or controlling traffic; shields and batons; and, beanbag bullets.

In addition to 1st BCT, other Army units will take part in the two-week training exercise, including elements of the 1st Medical Brigade out of Fort Hood, Texas, and the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade from Fort Bragg, N.C.

There also will be Air Force engineer and medical units, the Marine Corps Chemical, Biological Initial Reaction Force, a Navy weather team and members of the Defense Logistics Agency and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.

A Little Education Here!!!

                      Part 1
Remember the election in 2006, when you wanted change?
                      Almost two years ago:
                     1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
                     2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon
                     3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen change alright:
                     1) Consumer confidence plummet;
                     2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $4.10 a gallon;
                     3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
                     4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
                     5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
                     6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
                     7) Food prices skyrocketing over 30% in 1 year.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!
Remember, it is Congress that makes the laws and spends our money, NOT the President.

He has to work with what's handed to him.

                     Part 2:
Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find these statistics enlightening and amazing.
                       www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.HTML

Here is the website to check it out for yourself!

Taxes under CLINTON-1999                     Taxes under BUSH-2008

Barack Obama promises to return to the higher tax rates if elected. It is amazing how many people who fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever.

If elected, Barack Obama has already promised that he will repeal the Bush tax cuts , and amazingly, a good portion of the people who fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen.

Islam is not a religion, nor is it a cult. In it's fullest form, it is a complete, total, 100% system of life.  Islam has religious, legal, political, economic, social, and military components. The religious component is a beard for all of the other components.
Islamization begins when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their religious rights.
When politically correct, tolerant, and culturally diverse societies agree to Muslim demands for their religious rights, some of the other components tend to creep in as well.  Here's how it works.

As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:
United States -- Muslim 0.6%

Australia -- Muslim 1.5%

Canada -- Muslim 1.9%

China -- Muslim 1.8%

Italy -- Muslim 1.5%

Norway -- Muslim 1.8%

At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. This is happening in:
Denmark -- Muslim 2%

Germany -- Muslim 3.7%

United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7%

Spain -- Muslim 4%

Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply.

This is occurring in:
France -- Muslim 8%

Philippines -- Muslim 5%

Sweden -- Muslim 5%

Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%

The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%

Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris , we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam, and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam , with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections, in:
Guyana -- Muslim 10%

India -- Muslim 13.4%

Israel -- Muslim 16%

Kenya -- Muslim 10%

Russia -- Muslim 15%

After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:

Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%

At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:

Bosnia -- Muslim 40%

Chad -- Muslim 53.1%

Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7%

From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in:
Albania -- Muslim 70%

Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4%

Qatar -- Muslim 77.5%

Sudan -- Muslim 70%

After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced and in some ways is on-going in:

Bangladesh -- Muslim 83%

Egypt -- Muslim 90%

Gaza -- Muslim 98.7%

Indonesia -- Muslim 86.1%

Iran -- Muslim 98%

Iraq -- Muslim 97%

Jordan -- Muslim 92%

Morocco -- Muslim 98.7%

Pakistan -- Muslim 97%

Palestine -- Muslim 99%

Syria -- Muslim 90%

Tajikistan -- Muslim 90%

Turkey -- Muslim 99.8%

United Ar ab Emirates -- Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic House of Peace. Here there's supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasses are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word, such as in:
Afghanistan -- Muslim 100%

Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100%

Somalia -- Muslim 100%

Yemen -- Musli m 100%

Unfortunately, peace in never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons.  'Before I was nine I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; the tribe against the world, and all of us against the infidel. -- Leon Uris, 'The Haj'

It is important to understand that in some countries, with well under 100% Muslim populations, such as France, the minority Muslim populations live in ghettos, within which they are 100% Muslim, and within which they live by Sharia Law. The national police do not even enter these ghettos. There are no national courts nor schools nor non-Muslim religious facilities. In such situations, Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. The children attend madrasses. They learn only the Koran. To even associate with an infidel is a crime punishable with death. Therefore, in some areas of certain nations, Muslim Imams and extremists exercise more power than the national average would indicate.
Today's 1.5 billion Muslims make up 2 2% of the world's population. But their birth rates dwarf the birth rates of Christians, Hindus, Buddists, and Jews, and all other believers. Muslims will exceed 50% of the world's population by the end of this century.

Play or pay, or pay some more. Wow what a choice.

When will enough be enough? This type of thing will only become worse if Obama is elected.

Old 49/63 resident, sure miss the Country Club Dairy. Thomas Jefferson: “If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”
