Yesterday, in an editorial in the USA Today,  President elect Obama reiterated many of his "promises" that propelled him to his historic victory. So that all of us can reflect back in four years, to see where this great orator has taken our country, I have listed his promises. Please Cut, Paste and Save.

1.    I'll give a tax break to 95% of workers and their families, and eliminate income taxes for seniors making under $50,000 a year. If you work, pay taxes and make less than $250,000, you won't see your taxes increase by a single dime.  2.    I'll end tax breaks for corporations that ship our jobs overseas, and give them to companies that create jobs in America. 3.    I'll eliminate capital gains taxes for start-ups and small businesses, the engines of our job creation. 4.    We'll create 2 million jobs by rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure and laying broadband lines that reach every corner of the country. 5.    I'll invest $15 billion a year over the next decade in renewable energy, creating 5 million new green jobs that pay well, can't be outsourced, and can help end our dependence on Middle East oil. 6.    My plan will make health care affordable and accessible for every American. If you already have health insurance, the only change you'll see under my plan is lower premiums. If you don't, you'll be able to get the same kind of plan that members of Congress get for themselves. 7.    To guarantee every child a world-class education, I'll invest in early childhood education and recruit an army of new teachers. But I'll also demand higher standards and more accountability. And we'll make a deal with every young American: If you commit to serving your community or your country, we will make sure you can afford your tuition. 8.    When it comes to keeping this country safe, I'll end the Iraq war responsibly so we stop spending $10 billion a month in Iraq while it sits on a huge surplus. 9.    I'll finally finish the fight against Osama bin Laden and the al-Qaeda terrorists who attacked us on 9/11, build new partnerships to defeat the threats of the 21st century, and restore our moral standing so that America remains the last, best hope on earth. Have a great day.

I guess you heard his first plan of change was to revamp the FBI, CIA, and other national security options. He did not include that on this list, but it was stated last night AFTER he won. Why start there when the economy needs a overhaul?

Actually, no Obama fan here, but he did state that his first order of business was to attack financial.. How much do you have in your 401K

He had also stated earlier that he would have to do things that we may not always agree with... Again... how much is in your 401K?

This is the largest pool of money still sitting there.. they WILL seize it.. even a dumbarse like Obama knows where to get the money to try and put a kickstand on this economy.... DONT worry the government will insure it and when you are ready to retire at an age they see fit... you will have earned a guaranteed 3%

Heil Obama!

I'm not an optimist, but there is no way he will be able to follow throught with the first 4. As for number 9 it sounds like he will make number 8 happen by moving the 10 million a month to number 9. But I'm with you DogJ lets watch and see

I don't understand why 1/2 of Americans voted for this guy. (BTW, he only won by 4%, so I don't consider that a freaking landslide). We can't keep supporting everybody else who doesn't want to work. Why don't we get the illegal immigrants to pay for their citizenship? Wouldn't that help this problem? I don't think it is wrong for them to pay for some of the stuff they have been getting for free without paying taxes like the rest of us.

The good news is I don't think he will be able to get hardly any at all of these things to happen. We MUST (thankfully) remember he has to be backed by the house and senate, and yes the dems are the majority, there is still enough repubs to stop the maddness!

Squirrelly,
It cost me about $500.00 in government fees and another $2500.00 in legal fees to become a citizen of the United States of America . . . but then I'm from Canada. Before I was even a citezen of the U.S. I saw extreme and blatant recism in the ranks of this government. If I was from south of the border, and if I didn't speak any english, then those fees would have been waved and a free attorney would have been appointed to help me.

I think if our President would have been decided by popular vote instead of this lame electorial vote (my opinion) Obama would not have been the President Elect

reason My wife is from Canada, our fees were the same as your, that is why I know when the cuttent illegal immigrants scream and hollar they are not legal because it would cost them 25,000+ I can look them in the eye and tell them they are full of it. Those fees do not vary depending on the country you come from

I love to discuss Politics, Economics and Government. I consider myself a fiscal conservative and environmentalist. I'm often confused as being a moderate or Libertarian, but then I'm just often confused. I'm a debater, but stay away from discussions that get personal/attacking. I find that most people are deep in opinions and shallow in facts, (okay, that was an opinion). God Bless American.
