OK, so I have an aquaintance who has his (5th)  DUI conviction, is on probation, and has a revoked license.  His family threw a lot of money at it to keep him out of jail for a felony conviction.   His insurance company has dropped him like a hot potato.  He's still driving, drove today in the snow.  Doesn't seem to know or care that one wreck will not only put him in jail (since he's on probation), but he could lose everything.  Jeeze!  Is riding the bus THAT bad?  It really narcs me when people cause their own problems, but still seem to think that they're invincible; it's the 'stupid judge's fault', and the consequences of their actions don't apply to them.  What about all the people who are doing what they should and trying their best to get by and do what's right?  Just venting...thanx for reading.

Okay, I love Sienfied.  It was and is a  classic show, but I'm really tired of seeing it every night.  It's 20 years old.  Can't we retire it and bring in something else at 6:30 on weekdays?   I like My Name Is Earl.  What do you want?

Vote out every incumbent from local govt. to Congress.  Maybe if we send a message to our government that they actually have to WORK to keep their jobs the newly elected will put forth some REAL effort and make real progress.

The CEOs and other executives who are supposed to be running these failing businesses are going to their homes on the golf course with their multi-million dollar stock options while the grunts go to the unemployment office.   There's no penalty for letting a business run into the ground...just rewards.

I know someone who got his 5th DUI.  He was facing a felony charge as a chronic offender.  His lawyer couldn't get it down to a misdemeanor, so he was going to go to trial.  Then a rich family member stepped in and got him a high-priced lawyer.  Result, a misdemeanor charge, 2 months house arrest and 1 year license suspension.  He went home and celebrated by getting drunk.  Now he's got the bracelet on and has a thingy he has to blow in, but he's still driving and I know he'll be drinking as soon as the testing stops.  There's no lesson here, except that if you have lots of money you can break the law (repeatedly)  and all they'll do is send you to your room.  You're grounded, Mister!

My son-in-law wants to join the army.  He took and passed the ASVAB, has turned in all the paperwork they need and took the physical.  He is partically deaf in one ear (since birth), and the doctor gave him a waiver.   Everything was set to go, then they came back and said that the Surgeon General denied him because of his disablility.   DISABILITY?!?     The army is letting convicted felons join and they keep saying that recruitment is low and they need volunteers!  Here is a young man who is physically fit (he's a construction worker) and  motivated and they're telling him he's disabled and can't join the army?!?    We've written our state reps about it.  They've ignored us (our tax dollars at work!)

I've heard a few rumors about some places that are now charging a 'one time membership' fee as a Private Club, where they allow smoking...like it used to  be for going to bars and drinking.  Smoker's prohibition?  Can anyone confirm or deny this?  Some city's are complaining that their lunch business just moved to the next town where smoking is allowed (when they don't sell x% of food), so I can see where a 'Private Club' might be an idea...just not sure if it's real.

The Catholic Archibishop says that the Bodies Revealed exhibit is disrepectful.  Even an old heathen like me has to agree with that.  It's just gross...they were real people, not cutouts or models.  Eww.

Breaking news that they fired Max, Tanna and everyone else.  Ky is a staple of Kansas City...we broke a guitar record together...Cars for Christmas.?  Charity work that they've done...all gone!  And when 102.1 fired them...didn't  that work out...they've changed formats a billion times.  What a boneheaded move by some suit at the top....CRAP!

I wonder why the govt. doesn't give more incentive to Corporate America's big shots to allow more telecommuting.   I can log on to the system from home, all meetings are teleconferences, I have no contact with the public, I basically leave my cube for coffee and...you know.    At home I am using my utilities, my phone, my PC.  Same for my husband.  We would save $120 a week in auto maintenance AND we wouldn't be driving to and fro emitting greenhouse gasses (plus I wouldn't have to get out of my bathrobe until noon!)    There are approx. 250 other's in our office that could do likewise.  Certainly there are plenty of others at other companies who can telecommute as well.  That's taking a lot of cars off the road and reducing emissions and gasoline consumption, every little bit helps.   Our CEO's big thing about telecommuting is he's afraid we won't really work.  Guess he's not too bright.  You give people assignments and due dates, if they don't get the work done, sack 'em.   No, we must be in the office because that means we are really working (yeah, right, I see a lot of Freecell and surfing going on).   Greedy slavedriver's do not care about going green, they care about how many stock options they can get and their 6 figure salaries, ergo the Govt. should give Corporations a tax break if they support telecommuting.   Money talks...

I downloaded the weather widget.  My evaluation:  so so.  It's pretty but not really that functional.  A shortcut to weather.com gets the info just as fast and isn't eating up bandwith all day.  I don't like the SpringBox too much either.

The teaser at noon, "Why are these veterans burning the very flag they fought for?".  That was a cheap shot to get people to watch the story.    The story: How to 'properly dispose of your old and tattered flag'.  Why not just run a story informing those who may not know what to do with their old flags?   Buuutttt noooo, let's try to grab some cheesy ratings with a controversial headline?  For shame....

Yesterday on my way home the young driver in front of me tossed a half-full can of pop right out the window with such proficiency that it was obvious that he does that all the time.   Honestly, how hard is it to wait until you get to your destination to throw out your trash?  Why empty the ash tray in the parking lot when you could walk ten feet to the nearest can, how lazy can one be?   An article in the Springfield paper said that police were starting to crack down on littering in the Ozarks...sure hope they start here too!

John Edwards says that we should all give up our SUVs.   I personally don't own a SUV, I have a PU, which is a SUV with a convertable top.  I need a PU and would spend all my time borrowing PUs if I didn't own one.  I don't know, but most SUV owners seem to LOVE them, and they love not sliding around in the snow.   I hope that good ole Edwards is going to give up his limo and arrive at the primaries in a KIA.  Oh, and he should give up that mansion that uses more electricity in one day than I use all year, too.  Try a 2 bedroom ranch, JOHN.

Fox4 really needs to proof read their stuff.  Showing that 19 year old wacko's my space page (the one who was going to steal the baby) yesterday during the 5:00 news, NOBODY noticed the F-BOMB at the top of her myspace page????   You don't need HDTV to see that one.
