I just read about a man who was sleeping in a trash dumpster and the trash truck came and dumped him into the truck and started the compacting cycle.  That gives me the creeps.

Its a sad situation to think that people live in these kinds of situations. I remember working down town on a remodel and our labor threw something away that was needed to finish up the job. I was out in the dumpster tossing things aside ,looking for this piece when a woman walked up to me and said. "Sir if your hungry I have a half sandwich you can have" I thanked her ............. the sandwich was pretty good.

I would say that was probably one rude awakening for that guy. I can also imagine that the men or women working for the trash disposal company are a little freaked out as well.

I worked a property in the inner city, just off of the 9th and Paseo area. I am not as heart felt toward the homeless. These men and women would sit and smoke wet in my buildings, use my halls as their personal toilets, sleep and urinate in my basements, damage property locks and doors, vandalize residents units and harrass residents for money, food, and drugs. They would have sex with each other in the stairwells, they were pathetic. You would call and have them arrested for prostitution, tresspassing etc and within 24 hours they would be back doing the same darn thing. Most of them have been doing this all of their lives and want nothing more than that next hit. The bad part about it was most of them came from the Salvation Army Center on 9th Street or Restart on 9th. These programs claim they rehabilitate, no they try and if that doesn't work they kick them to the curb and the surrounding communities have to contend with them. The shocking thing is that the court system orders them to these places but they do not monitor them closely. These are prison released individuals. This may sound harsh toward the homeless, but man they can make a property managers life hell. I do have a difference of oppinion when it comes to a family who has fallen on hard times. Yes these program do help but for the majority. Naaaaa

Have they released the identity of the victim?

I do not have much empathy for the homeless who choose to remain homeless and not take advantage of programs that are designed to help. The shelters can only do so much, if the individual is not willing to do their part in improving his/her life, I don't see a problem with 'kicking them to the curb' and make room for someone who needs/wants help.
I do think individual states could do more than they are with the homeless. In reality, I don't think there is a solid solution to homelessness.

Homeless - it's a sad situation. True, a lot are homeless because all they are worried about is getting their drugs and/or alcohol, and any money they get is spent towards that end. However, there are some that are homeless because of mental disorders-they are not considered a risk to themself or society so they are not institutionalized, however, they can not make it in society and often their families have just given up on them. Then there are the families that have just fallen on hard times. Something needs to be done, I am just not sure how it can be administered.
