Well I wonder how Mattel and Fisher Price feel about having to recall so many toys - made in CHINA. Maybe they aught to rethink putting their money back here in the good old USA. - Get their own factories going so they know what is being used in their products! The loss of even ONE child isn't worth the risk. It's all about $$$$$! I hope this will be a lesson learned for those who have made this choice, but I doubt it.

I agree they need to bring their companies back to the USA where they belong and should have never left. Maybe if everyone stopped buying their toys then they would lose some of thier profits and thats where they need hit.

There’s a greater question to be asked here. What made (forced) these companies to go to China in the first place? Setting up a company in a foreign country (particularly a Communist country) is extremely difficult. There are enormous political, financial, and human services hurtles that must be dealt with and overcome. Then we also have to remember that our country’s political leaders are encouraging globalization (outsourcing) while we face a very large trade deficit with countries such as China. There’s a lot more going on behind the scenes than most people realize. American consumers, unions, and workers have also had a large role to play in outsourcing. You have to look at the entire picture.

Right again Jordan, everyones pointing fingers at Bush, NAFTA, Corporational greed. Remember Hasbro, well even if Mattel brought all production back onto American shores, Then their 49.99 toy on the shelf next to a 29.99 toy made oversees, guess which one will sell out. The American purchaser holds the primary responsibility of all products that used to be made here and have since sought greener pastures.

Recently Hershey in Pennsylvania announced the plant closings and moving to Mexico. I wonder if they will rename the town of Hersheys?

Jordan, The big picture is clear, saving money. If a company can save a buck, they dont care about the employees, Chinese or American, its all about money

We don't have to boycott them. With all the recalls they have to be loosing a lot of money.

There's enough blame to go around. There's a domino effect here. Big companies have put the mom & pop stores and smaller businesses out of business because thelarge chains can afford to buy in huge lots and pass the savings on to the consumer. Because of cut-backs, outsourcing, down-sizing, etc., along with rising health costs interest, etc., consumers are forced to shop where they can save as much as possible. Our government is paying a lot of these companies to move to other countries - - and right now some states are paying companies and giving them large incentives to move their businesses to their state. And anymore the consumer has no idea of who owns what company, or companies. Bet we would be surprised (maybe) to know how many egg baskets Walmart owns, and some of the other large conglomarates. Like some of you said, it's all about money, politics, and saving a buck.

Retired (?) and wondering how I ever found time to work! We live in the county - very near Grain Valley. They have brought the city limits to our north fence and across the street. Close enough! My husband and I (Ray and Wendy Keys) have lived in this area since 1977. We have watched G.V. grow and have encountered many "adjustments" in our (use to be) rural living. We have two dogs, Riley and Sophia (Sophie). After losing our little Yorkie/Silky mix to cancer last November, we adopted Riley from a shelter. He is about 7 years old. Then we decided that Riley needed a playmate so we got a little Lhaso Apso puppie (now 8 months old). They have about an acre of yard to run and play in (besides the house). We adore both of them. We adore animals! We have woods behind our house. Separate from the woods and the yard is our "barnyard". In this area we get to enjoy seeing deer, wild turkey, fox, rabbits, etc. We love it! Ray keeps busy hiring out for "honey-do" jobs, plus doing security guard work four days a week. I stay busy with mowing, keeping house, selling Avon, and keeping up with the dogs. :) We attend church regularly and I sing in the choir. We are looking forward to Thanksgiving and having family here. Family is very special to us. There now, you have the low down on the Keys. We love watching Fox 4 News.
