“I just can’t seem to get it right today” is the craziest commercial I’ve ever seen. I get the idea of what they are trying to say but it just doesn’t sink in. After seeing it a few times, if I were a Kia owner, I’d be offended.

It gives you the idea that Kia Spectra owners are ignorant. You have a 50/50 chance of pulling to the gas pump on the correct side. The arrow near your fuel gauge seems to help, and about 99% of all cars have their gas doors on the drivers side.

So, Kia owners are you more surprised by your low trade in values or the fact that “Some can’t seem to get it right at all”?

Is this news? LOL - J/K. Yeah I noticed that in the ad too. I guess it's a "Korean" sense of humor?

To Me a KIA is a beer can on wheels.... Saw one at the tow lot the other day that was in an accident..... It crumbled like an aluminum beer can........

JUNK JUNK JUNK! As of right now Kia's are not too great of a car. Sure, buying a car for less than $10,000 is nice but the next week it's worth $5,000. Go figure. Their cars are getting better but if you want Korean buy a Hyundai they have come a long way in quality but still have terrible trade in.

That commercial is too funny! FYI, my son drives a Chevy, the tank is on the passenger side. My other son drives a Pontiac, the tank is also on the passenger side.

Not all KIAs are dangerous. Their SUV, comparable to the Hyundai Tucson, is extremely safe. KIA and Hyundai, if memory serves, are actually sister companies.

What years are those cars LCF?

Also, you say not all KIA's are dangerous but then say the Hyundai Tucson is extremely safe - I am assuming you meant not all "Korean built" are dangerous?

Kia overall is a poorly built car. Yes, they seem to pass the head on crash test but they fail to tell you that they are horrible at side impacts and rear end collisions.

If you are shopping for safety then you need to look at the entire collision test. We always couple those numbers with dependability and also residual value. I drive a late model Nissan now but will buy either Honda or VW next time.

Hey...who moved my post? Is it up to Fox2 to decide what category to post such a brilliant blog in? What in the heck does this have to do with traffic versus NEWS? Traffic is defined as "transportation of goods for trading" or "the movement or number of automobiles along a street".

Come on Fox2 you should show a little more common sense than to move this NEWS item to traffic.

I just noticed that this did move from "news" to "traffic". I do agree it shouldn't be in traffic so news is the best location for this blog. Yeah the new cars nowadays have the gas door on the drivers side. Unless you have one of those hybrid thingies then 32mpg isn't anything.

I'm watching the Cardinals on TV tonight and what do I see...that commercial with a Kia owner that has NO clue. Does anyone remember that one Kia commercial that dealt with dating service or something like that?

So Answerman are you knowledgeable with automobiles etc? After reading your blog and seeing the commercial I do agree on the perception that you get from it. Is Kia a great car - absolutely not. But, in today's economy the lowest price tends to win.

I don't own Korean nor will I in the future. What someone above said pertaining to the residual values is totally accurate. LOL - each time I view that commercial now I realize I am not as dense as "that" person.

Wow Brainhead - I see what you mean. That commercial was on too many times this past weekend and I feel embarrassed for those drivers.

Good job Kia on scaring away potential customers.

AnswerMan, I have 8 vehicles and the gas door on the wagons are on the driver's side for all except the 2003 VW Jetta TDI wagon. As for the sedans, they are all on the passenger's side except for the 2 Oldsmobiles (1970 & 1971) which are behind the license plate.

As for that KIA commercial, I think it makes the poeple look dumb!

I think it's a cute commercial because it's something we have all done at least once. But once is enough! Problem is, even after seeing it so many times, if someone had asked me what car company it was, I would not have known.

The gas filler will almost always be on the opposite side of the vehicle from the exhaust pipe. And just happens to be on the passenger side more that 1% despite what RocketMan says. And before some Braniac says something, we do know that quite a few vehicles have dual exhaust. So there is no opposite side on them. Thought I would just save some moron from telling us how smart they are.

i dont think ya got it brother. in my years most cars had real dual exhaust but in todays market most have that fake dual tip. ya might be right about more than 1 purcent but i see most on drivers side because of convenience. i thinks ya mihgt be out of your league.

Yas Think?? You would see it as conveniece. Unfortunately your tyear have not tought you anything in this matter. Even if a car has a fake tip, the gas cap will NORMALLY be on the "Fake" side. Again for the reason of keeping the gas filler as far away from the hot exhaust pipe. Yourz anzer made no sense at all. It takz morz than some yearz of drivin carz tooz make youz a expertz!!!

More and more automakers are putting fuel doors on drivers side because of convenience. Almost every car nowadays seems to have that fake dual exhaust look while the real muffler is on the passenger side (except German made et al).

I find it very convenient to get out of my car and have the fuel door a few feet away. I do that commercial also and there's no relevance as to where the door is located and common sense on knowing your own vehicle.

I guess those were all Kia rentals - smart move.

I am always trying to find the correct answer. Even though I am clueless nearly all the time I am still not the dumbest on this planet.
