Being a Christian it's a little hard to not define this as an ignorant, stupid, and insane, if you will, action of an American-Islam family.  I'm refering to the story in the news today of the 9 person family who, when bording on a plane  from florida to Washington, one of the members was overheard saying, 'I wonder if this seat is safe if a bomb goes off.'  Needless to say, all the passengers had to get off the plane and were re-checked and that family wasn't allowed back on the plane.  GOOD.

I don't know what being Christian has to do with anything, except prejudice. Stupidity is nondenominational.

The families of Atif Irfan, a tax attorney, and his brother Kashif Irfan, an anesthesiologist, were removed from a flight before takeoff Thursday after a passenger reported hearing Atif Irfan's wife say something the passenger thought was suspicious.

The airline declined to say what comment was overheard. But Atif Irfan say the couple was discussing the safest place to sit on a plane and speculates that someone misconstrued their intent.

Family members Friday said they are particularly concerned about AirTran's actions after they were removed from the flight. AirTran refused to rebook the family on a subsequent flight, even after FBI agents cleared them of wrongdoing and intervened on their behalf, the Irfans said.

"The FBI agents actually cleared our names," said Inayet Sahin, Kashif Irfan's wife. "And they went on our behalf and spoke to the airlines and said, 'There is no suspicious activity here. They are clear. Please let them get on a flight so they can go on their vacation,' and they still refused." Video

"The conversation, as we were walking through the plane trying to find our seats, was just about where the safest place in an airplane is," Sahin said. "We were [discussing whether it was safest to sit near] the wing, or the engine or the back or the front. But that's it. We didn't say anything else that would raise any suspicion."

It's just like yelling across a crowded airport to say hello to your friend, Jack ("Hi, Jack!" for the kids in the slow class). A sure way to get tackled to the floor for over forty years. It has nothing to do with your religion or the color of your skin and everything to do with being an idiot. Sometimes just opening your mouth is kind of like playing Russian Roulette - you can never tell which time you pull the trigger is the one that'll get ya'.

You have to admit that the women dressed in "Muslim Garb" is like waving a red flag. If they don't want to be looked at as Muslim terrorists (BTW the ones responsible for 9-11), The World Trade Center, Bombing of a Marine barracks, etc. etc. maybe they should dress as American Citizens when they go out in public or be prepared to face the consequences.

So much for our freedom of speech. I guess this means I can't go around wearing an "Attitude served here" shirt all the time, and I guess it means I can't go around just being myself (a no-nonsense person who isn't afraid to tell someone off if I feel they deserve it).

There are just certain places you can't say "BOMB" and an airport is one of them. You also can't say "Gun" or "HIJACK". I don't think the reason is hard to understand.

There are signs all over. They say all comments will be taken seriously.

I would encourage you to tell someone off if they deserve it mnaines. Hopefully it will be before you move to Japan. Very few guns over there. Perhaps we'll read about it in the paper the next day.

Stupidity clearly has no limits.

Genius does.

Eveyone knows it's against the law to say the word 'bomb' on a plane or @ an airport. Am I right? that's what I've been told.

Well Mnaines, as long as you don't go running around with a hat on that says "Intel inside" you'll be alright. It would be false advertising if you did. LOL

This whole situation was dumb. As far as I know they never used the word "bomb"...that is just a rumor. I have heard that over the wing is the safest place..and have discussed as well where to sit when getting on a plane.
And someone said she needs to dress like an american? ::Sigh:: This is 2009 people!

Yes, they did say bomb...it was overheard by other passenger and they did admit to saying it because they wanted to be in the safest place on the plance in case a bomb went off. They said it.

Maybe being an attorney he set this up on purpose. They talked about it purposely, hoping to get kicked off the plane or in some way have their "rights" violated so they could sue the airline for about a million per person in their family that was "embarassed and humiliated" and some idiot jury would award it to them. Voila! Now they are really rich!

I have and always will argue that if you are in this country, and you are a legal citizen, you should speak the English language, and now, it looks like with all that's happened in the past 7 years, dress your dress in the privacy of your own home if you don't want to be harrassed. Although, the way it's going, English won't be the primary language, which is disturbing to me. It will be a cold day in hell when I am forced to learn another language just so I can communicate with others who fled their country for what America has to offer that theirs does not. My theory is simple...if you don't like it....leave. Sounds harsh I know, but fairly simple. I've said it over and again, if Americans went to another country to live, you can bet your sweet bippy we'd be expected to adjust to the ways of that country. We'd suffer just as they are.

If they were checked and nothing was found on them or in their baggage there was no need to keep them off of the flight. The reason why we have these problems to begin with is the difference in religions and the ignorant people who can't accept other people'e points of views. What's funny is they are both blinded by their own religions they can't see the truth.

Are you people really this dumb? No reason to keep them off the plane? What about the other passengers? What about their rights. Why are we siding with non-conformist socialists who think it's chique to say "bomb" in an airport? What kind of moron does that, even in casual conversation. And, yes, if you feel offended by how you're treated because of your dress, because of your language or because of how you're treated, leave! I'll hold the door for you. It is 2009. Time for Americans to take back their country!
