There ought to be a law regarding disrespect of the American flag.   Get on w/ your life, people---Obama won.  End of story..God is in control so believe it and trust Him.   The way I see it, anyone who disrespects the American flag or our country, shouldn't be trusted and should be watched.

I agree with you on the issue of disrespect of the American flag. But first, can you clarify who you're talking about? Is it that guy who flew his flag upside down? Or is it Obama, who refuses to put his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegience and his friend, Bill Ayers who would both burn and walk on the flag? The first is a symbol of distress. The second is blatant disrespect. Those are the guys who should be watched.

(BTW, 2mini, are you the S Dakota lover? If so, it was beautiful up there the 2nd week of Sept.!)

Again, I think there should always be respect shown to the flag, but the Supreme Idiocy Court has decided that you can do anything you want to it, because they have included that disrepect to the flag under "free speech". However, I don't think flying it under the mode of "distress" is disrespectful. (I will admit to sticking my flag postage stamps upside down when I have to pay taxes).

Those who burn, trash, spit, kick it to the ground, etc. are the ones I'd like to take to task; including the pres. elect and his America hating cronies.

Is that why Obama had the flag taken off his plane, respect, "anyone who disrespects the American flag or our country, shouldn't be trusted and should be watched."

Now I just saw pics of a McCain plane on snopes that had NO flag on it, and I saw a pic of Obama's plane with a pic of a flag on it, right in front of the numbers N755NA. They were both on snopes.

You can dislike Obama all you like....but at least be accurate about the reasons.

1) The Infamous "Hand over the heart" picture was NOT taken during the Pledge of Allegiance. It was snapped during the playing of the National Anthem. While many people do cover their hearts during the Anthem it IS NOT REQUIRED. According to Obama he was taught by his grandfather that you cover your heart during the pledge & sing during the Anthem. I tend to believe him since my Kansas born grandmother (of the same era) taught me the same thing.

2) The flag was taken off the Obama plane at the request of the corporation that owned the plane. It is part of their trademarked logo...and when Obama changed any part of the plane's paint job, the branded logo had to go.

All of this tripe reminds me of the movie,
Dumb and Dumber, but I cannot decide which is which.
People, get over it. Obama will be our President and if we want to salvage a country from the mess he will inherit on Jan. 20th, then get behind him. Or just BLEEP and complain.
If you could find a country willing to take you after Geo. Bush's country bashing, then go.
I will help you pack.

I hate to be the voice of dissent when it comes to something as important as the symbolism of the American flag; but I disagree that there should be laws enacted to demand that respect. We should all have an inherent pride in what our flag stands for, and if our society would teach our children to respect our flag as we should respect "the republic for which it stands," and in equal turn publically and vocally demonize those who disrespect it - then no laws for its preservation would be neccessary. Once again we are asking the government to do what we as citizens have the power to do for ourselves!

reasoned---I agree---but it AIN"T HAPPININ'. I learned in school to have a respect for the flag because we started out our school day w/ the Pledge of Aledgence. Do these kids start out their day like that? I don't think they do but I'm not there to know.

We operate a Christian preschool during the week, and ALL of the kids that attend here begin the day with the pledge of allegiance among other things . . . a couple of weeks ago I had to substitute for th4e kindergarten teacher and I took the time to teach them what various words in the pledge meant - words like "allegiance," "nation," and "indivisible." Some may think that such words are too big for kindergarteners, but they caught on, and now when they take the pledge I've noticed that they don't "goof around" nearly as much as they used to, and there is a sparkle in many of their eyes - I think it's pride.

To forgive is to move forward. The 3 most hardest things in life are 2 trust- have faith- & forgive. Love heals. God is love.
